A normal person the subject of a federal investigation like this? A normal person would have his doors kicked down in the middle of the night, his dogs shot, and every electronic gadget that so much has a 555 timer in it would be seized for no less than five years. 50% of his returned items (a subset of what was taken) will be broken.

[–] bagano1 7 points 35 points (+42|-7) ago

I had my computer seized once as the result of a criminal case against me and it was returned within a few weeks, nothing was broken, it was in perfect working order.

My other electronics were ignored.

No, it's not what you think. I said the wrong thing about a world leader and they freaked out. Really ignorant shit.

The only reason the public learned of her private email and server was from a Romanian hacker.

The Secretary of State is a senior official of the United States of America heading the U.S. Department of State focused on foreign affairs.

I'm sure Chinese and Russian governments knew what she was doing, before she actually did it. Little wonder she had no accomplishments to show for. The guys on the other side of the negotiation table saw her coming a mile away.

Depending on level and type of wipe, not withstanding if it's the actual harddisk(s) even. I'm interested to know if was wiped or 1/0'd out, dod3 lvl wipe or something more thorough, this is still not without trying to find out if China/Russia or anyone for that matter doesn't have the copies still, even current Sec of State Kerry believes even his are currently spied upon, so I would logically assume Hillary's server was as well.

I'd be curious to see how a 'professional' cleaning compares to using dd to write random data to a disk.

In that case, might I suggest that you bake a cake with your comment on top of it and then eat it? Assuming the VERY unlikely happens. Because honestly, I'm with you on this one. She's not gonna get anything but a slap on her granny wrist.

The server was in her home when she was Secretary of State. All the data on it was backed up to a newer server and then the server was erased when it was moved from her home to a secured data center over two years ago. This article makes it seem as if they just now wiped it right before handing it over.

This is the Clintons being the Clintons and it doesn't even make me mad anymore. What makes me mad is:

  • Justice department that will ignore this for her
  • The politicians that will stonewall for her
  • The media that will spin this for her
  • The masses that will vote for her

7

[–] Betterkatethannever 7 points 9 points (+16|-7) ago

I kind of hope he does, honestly. Either way, she isn't going to jail, we all know it. By having the President officially pardon her, the government officially recognizes that there was wrongdoing. It's why Ford pardoned Nixon and why Obama should pardon Bush/Cheney, and why he should pardon Hillary too.

[–] KidQuantum 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Can you be pardoned without being indicted? Serious question. This is text from constitution. "and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment."

The masses that will vote for her

Wellllll... I don't know. Sanders is getting ahead of her already. The nurses association just gave up female solidarity to throw their weight behind Sanders too. And I'm a voter who voted for Bill and totally would have voted for Hillary, but this one issue is bad enough to make me stop. It's not the initial bad behavior of having a top secret document on a private server. That's bad, but you can chalk it up to "dumb" in some cases -- like she wanted to work on it from home or something and moronically emailed it to her home email account. You know? The real issue was the maliciousness. That is, not complying with the order and then finally turning over the server late and it has already been wiped... that's... awful. That part screams to me, "There was more bad behavior and I don't want you to know about it, so lemme just cover it up first." That's really awful.

Didn't a judge order her to not delete anything? Throw the cunt in jail for that then wrap the other charges up and hang em around her neck.

[–] wylan 0 points 39 points (+39|-0) ago

He certainly did, add contempt of court to the ever growing list of charges!

[–] Phekka 1 points 24 points (+25|-1) ago

Contempt of court, isn't that something they made up to make the poor people be polite to judges?

0

[–] Balrogic 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Guess he'll have to hold her on those contempt charges until the undeleted contents can be produced. This could take a while.

0

[–] ShinyVoater 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Contempt isn't a criminal charge; it's a procedural issue(which means it's effective immediately, done entirely at the judge's pleasure and subject to comparatively little oversight).

[–] RunsWithScissors 1 points 11 points (+12|-1) ago

A judge did, 3 days ago. Her email server was upgraded, apparently, years ago. And it's debatable whether moving a file counts as deleting it.

[–] CrowTRobot 0 points 8 points (+8|-0) ago

Interesting. I doubt I could get away with it if it were a paper document, I copy it, put it in a different place, and burn the original.

She said the server was handed over voluntarily, under an agreement between Platte River and Clinton's presidential campaign, with no subpoena. (Warning: auto-video.) So if a judge said anything, there was no ruling due to this bargain.

I'd like to add that when I worked in the defense industry, if I had pulled this stunt, our government would have rightfully imprisoned me.

[–] Balrogic 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Really? Because that kind of comment has a revolutionary theme. Last time western society had high justice/low justice we took away their titles of nobility and cut off all their heads. Outrage at one set of laws for the elite while the low have a different set directly contributed to political revolutions such as the American Revolution and the French Revolution among others. Where you perceive a deflection, I see a call to arms against the brutal political machine.

0

Yes, I would think the NSA would have a database on EVERY Politicritter just to ensure that their funding is always increased to levels trey find "bearable".

0

[–] noblefool 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

You'd think the NSA database would already be flagging top secret information that shouldn't be leaving. Y'know, they're looking for "terrorism", so shouldn't they have spotted it already? If I had to take a guess they're willfully ignoring it and are going to shuffle their feet if called into action.
