I love how I'm starting to see the backlash against the whole mentality of "men are always wrong"

You know if this commercial was 3 old men saying it to a young attractive woman it would have never made it to air.

I had someone try to argue this with me once. "Your body isn't objectified". So I told her about three specific instances which I personally was, by women. then it became "well when I get objectified it's degrading, when you do it's positive and you get compared to a god (adonis)", so I found two gonewild posts where the commenters called the female poster a goddess then it became "well it happens to me every day" and she tried to pretend that women are oppressed. Then later I caught her saying that sometimes at work she would "play the damsel in distress card" to get out of work.

Women don't have it worse than men, they have it different, but nag and bitch more.

What could possibly be bigoted about a belief system that renders complex human lives into narrow categories based on sexuality, gender or biological sex, then ranks these individuals by historical injustices committed and assigns retroactive penalties?

And yet this has always been the case. And not just on TV, but everywhere.

I totally agree with Natalie on this. I mean I hate it when stupid-ass female supremacists whine about female sexualisation in games/movies/comics/everything-else, but then forget that most well-known male characters in everything everwhere ever is a huge-ass inhumanely-muscly giant.

It's pretty sad when you realise how ignorant and tunnel-vision-y people can be.

what i don't get is why people have such a problem with this. why do women hate beautiful, half-naked women? i'm as straight a guy as there is, but i hardly take issue with beautiful men. i might get a little jelly every once in a while, but i'd still much rather look at a stud than an ugly fat guy.

You want to know whats sad? Most mature men respect it. Some idolize it.

I mean I joke about loving Chris Pratt to an extent.

but man....

then my penis gets all confused

wait what were we talking about?

And especially in porn. Half the time you never even see the dude's face. Who's the sexual object there?

I would argue men have it worse as many male actors use steroids to get their body, while female actors mostly use diet and exercise.

The message being taught to men(shoot up to get more attractive) is far worse.

Exactly this. The visual mediums has always objectified both genders, it's fundamental to what they are selling (pictures of people). The outrage of "female objectification" only seems to indicate a lower tolerance among women (or feminists...).

Addendum: this is true for all mediums, if you are representing a character, it is impossible to not objectify it in some way, it is an object in relation to your product.

Women don't like prettier women being shoved in their face, neither do men but they expect it.

Women's response to prettier women is to either not give a fuck or to have them removed. Men's response to better looking men is to not give a fuck, attempt to improve themselves to look like said guys or to shut up because they know no one will care about their feelz.

As a guy, I have never been bothered by it. If I see a super ripped dude on screen, I feel a bit of admiration and jealousy, but thats it. The dude is something I should work towards, not tear down.

I don't care about pretty men being shoved in my face.

I know my value is not in my looks, my value is in what I do.
Be more than your appearance and all this shit disappears.

although, I do gave a face for radio...

Don't forget about the Vietnam War. There's nothing more oppressive than systemically forcing young men to go die in a fucking war.

Based Nat! It's good to see a female actress not always complaining about how much society hates women (even though the actresses all make vast amounts of money)

I saw the other day where some newslady asked Rousey if she thought it was fair that she made so much less money than Mayweather. Rousey's response was basically "I've only fought 11 fights. Mayweather has fought 50."

It's also a lot about the draw. Two heavy weight guys boxing or mma will generally pull a larger crowd than the female side and the money is from that and ppv. So even if they aren't paid equally there's still logic behind it. Her point still being valid because the higher she climbs the more people will watch awaiting further ascent or the fall.

Lysa was a hot commodity in the Vale...

[–] coldacid 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

That had nothing to do with her attractiveness (which was pretty much all worn off even before she returned to the Vale from King's Landing) and more to do with being the mother of the underaged Lord of the Vale and therefore the top of the social and political ladders for the region.

oh good christ now there's 'white feminism'? i'm starting to think that a white person even just existing is a problem for some people. i guess i can't use my uterus as a shield any more. i'm just white, and that's terrible, and that's that. although... this could turn around for me... eventually, as a white woman, i will be THE most oppressed, and thus garner sympathy, and eventually rise to power!

It's not just acting, it's modeling, video games, art, etc.

"Objectification" isn't even the correct word. Most people like to see attractive people, and there's nothing wrong with that. Some people are insecure and seeing attractive people makes them feel bad about themselves and they complain.
