I'm proud of my home country. We stopped letting the US military jets stop over and refuel in Ireland too a few years ago after they were caught transporting kidnapped "terrorists" to Guantanamo via Ireland.

My family's fleeing country is Ireland. My mom is planning to get double citizenship in case of a Hillary/Jeb win.

in case of a Hillary/Jeb win.

Bush-Clinton set aside their imaginary differences and create a dream ticket for oligarchs everywhere!

I think it's pretty easy to get the citizenship too, if memory serves you just need one grandparent born in the country. The Irish economy is kinda crap since the bailout but it's been picking up for the last while.

Fleeing country. For political purposes mostly? Are you a spy family? :p

As someone who has not considered having such a thing and as an Outsider. Why Ireland? It has had its share of political problems.

Not like it matters. Worst case scenario the US still has England and Scotland.

Yeah that's true. They were using Shannon Airport which is a quiet rural airport so I'm sure they were inconvenienced at having to change their plans.

Wasn't it Irish prisoners who poured boiling water and sugar down the throat of a murderer?

Edit: Yup. It was at Dublin's Mountjoy (lol) Prison

LOL fair enough, but the worst part about going to prison in the U.S. isn't the "system" itself... it's the inevitable butt rape and AIDS that await you.

Edit: grammar

No, wait, not even that applies in this case. You just tried to compare what criminals in Ireland do to what your government does in order to make your government look better. I mean, what the actual fuck?!

[–] i_honestly_didnt_kno 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Lol the comparison was a joke, but I definitely wasn't trying to make the US government look better.

Doesn't have anything to do with the refusal of extradition though. Prisoners do horrible things in every country. The point is the extent of capital punishment.

[–] Nationalist 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

So they won't extradite criminals here even if they won't face the death sentence because some other unrelated criminals can get the death sentence?

I don't get it. So are we also going to refuse to give Ireland its criminals now in return?

Nope

When you break the law you're breaking the terms of your citizenship. Just don't be a fucking criminal. For 25 years I've somehow managed to avoid commiting a jailable offence. It's probably that patriarchy everyone's talking about.

[–] YikYak 5 points 16 points (+21|-5) ago

Dont worry, you still have plenty of time.

There are plenty of unjust and obscure laws.

I guess you mean that you've somehow avoided getting arrested for commiting a jailable offence for 25 years

Just don't be a fucking criminal.

Impossible. Gear us back down to a couple dozen laws and then we'll talk.

[–] JesTheRed 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

This is the correct view only when idiotic things aren't criminalized for profit. Our current sitting President is only President because he didn't get caught doing things that everyone does. You're and I are in the same boat, as we've both undoubtedly broken a number of ridiculous laws in the last 24 hours alone, yet are just lucky in that we haven't been caught.

Once we decriminalize individual choices that don't hurt others, then you'll officially be correct. Reasonable laws are easy to follow. Idiotic laws make normal people criminals, which leads to violence, oppression, fascism, and if unchecked usually collapse/civil war.

A lot of the "consensual" sex is "I'm tired of getting beat up every day and I want to survive my sentence, so I'm going to have to do this"

The US has a hard time addressing non-prison rape. I think prison rape is a long ways away.

I've always had trouble understanding how all the violence, drug use, gang activity, and rape is tolerated in US prisons. Being raped should NOT be part of ANY prisoner's sentence. It certainly is not justice.
