There is really no difference between the Dems and Reps as it is now. This is why the two party system is so destructive and 'bi-partisanship' just ruins politics. We need to dissolve the two party system and impose term limits if we ever want our country back.

All candidates should be randomly elected, just like a jury duty notice. Can't be any more incompetent than the current bunch and guaranteed to not get the same corruption. A true random selection would give us a fairly representative slice of the national population, too. Inmates should be able to take office too, but if they're in for anything really dangerous they'll have to get an office inside the prison.

I disagree with all of this.

Not a bad idea until the inmate thing.

I kind of want to see how a society like this would turn actually out, observe the hilarity and whatnot, but that would be too cruel an experiment.

We need term limits and NO parties.

Let candidates stand on their own platform - I say. This is the age of the internet. The only thing we need is officials to give out a list of candidates. They can post youtube videos outlining their platform and will each receive a fixed fee to pay for travel expenses to reach debates. If they don't spend it on travel they give it to w/e charity. If they don't give it to charity then they are automatically disbarred and serve six months jail; no parole

What if they give it directly to the food banks or what not? Some people don't trust charities because a lot of the money is pocketed on "expenses"

Would term limits be a good thing? Wouldn't that make politicians even more open to bribes if they knew they didn't have to worry about their long term political career? Not that it takes much to bribe them now.

It would remove the idea of being a career politician and remove corruption from office faster and allow people to correct mistakes more quickly. I'd also be in complete favor of having every Congressman and Senator's financial records, and that of their families, open to the public so we can see they aren't taking bribes, as well as capping their salary to whatever the country's mean is.

even better, we can change the way that votes are counted to the borda count method (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borda_count), and have one representative for every 30,000 people in the house of representatives, like we were supposed to. I don't care how much money someone has, purchasing that many house members is going to hurt.
