There are also minority ethnic groups whicn are not Han Chinese. The government itself considers them minorities.

Yes, there are many minorities and they have full rights as citizens of China.

Sometimes Han Chinese will discriminate against them but these minorities are protected by special laws and sometimes given additional rights or opportunities.

For example, special universities are available for them and during the times of the one child policy era, some minorities were allowed to have more than one child.

The problem for some minorities is that some of these groups have lower average group IQs and sometimes their cultural values differ significantly from the majority of Chinese (eg. Islam). Finally, because China wants to have one nationwide language; nationwide, schools use “PuTongHua” (what we call Mandarin, they call the standard language) and so minority languages are pushed to the side.
