I guess incarceration didn't work in this instance...

Poor lass. Life over before it had a chance to really begin, all because of hate.

It worked in the sense that it stopped him from stabbing people at the last nine marches.

Where they went wrong was in letting him out.

My favorite headline from this incident:

Attack on Gay Pride Parade Shakes Israel’s Self-Image as Bastion of Tolerance

Israel... Bastion of Tolerance?!?!?

Remember when Bruno went to Israel and walked down the street in sexualised Jew clothing with the Jew cap and acted gay and then a mob of Jews formed and chased him down the street and tried to lynch him?

To be fair it's the only place where it's relatively cool to be gay in the region. (or Atheist, or of non-Abrahamic religion etc.)

Same can be said about any country, really. So please don't judge a whole country\state by one obviously insane extremist. Seriously, all those extremists should be put together and let the normal folk live happily ever after.

You would think his past history of stabbing folks combined with the fact that he looks absolutely batshit crazy would have been a sign they shouldn't put this guy back on the street. I mean, look at him:

I must admit, as I read the headline, it ended in a manner that I certainly was not expecting. He does look like he has character... Err... For lack of a better thing to call it. His facial hair is kind of memorable too. I can not tell if he is wearing a hat or if he has a weave or just really strange hair. I am partially color blind it seems so some colors I have issues with and I am not going to expend the energy to expand the picture manually on my hard drive.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. You would think that the Torah forbids that kind of thing especially on sabbath. Full disclosure, most of what I know about othodox jews comes from bill mahers video here. Also I've read most of the old testament.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that happens to you. That's a bummer for sure.

Hardcore right wing conservative religious dingbats are ALL the same, no matter the religion. Muslim, Christian, Jewish... they all act the same. It's just different religions have different amounts of them.

Orthodox Jewish men were the most frequent johns of the prostitutes in his precinct

I heard prostitution was fine in Judaism as long as the prostitute wasn't Jewish, is that correct?

I was under the impression the attacker is ultra-orthodox. I've heard them compared to groups like the Westboro Baptists--annoyingly strict to dogma, difficult to work with and self isolating.

Strict with their made up rules, just because their rules are a bit old, or some of it is a book does it make them valid.

Like orthodox anything, it can be used to justify some awful stuff. There are Orthodox Jewish communities that are wonderful and loving, but others that view Jewish people as inherently superior and value their culture and self-preservation more important than the rights of others.

There are areas where a brand of Orthodox Judaism will come in and essentially take over a neighborhood. Literally patrolling with their own unofficial police force, force women to sit in the back of the bus, and take over the local school board to vote down everything that might cost money (their children go to private Jewish schools).

Here's a New Yorker article that delves into the extremely insular nature of the community in the context of a molestation trial: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/11/10/outcast-3 It is very long, but in short the victims and their families were retaliated against by the community for going to the real court system rather than the community's internal justice system.

Extremes of any group are exceptions to the rule. But the issues you see with "Islamified neighbourhoods" in YouTube happens with ultra orthodox Jews in Islam.

What world do you live in? Why are you so fearful that this stuff will happen to you? I know the internet likes to play this stuff up, but come on man, are you really that susceptible to fear-mongering?

Why would you say her parents failed her? To me it seems the justice/incarceration system failed in this case, for not being able to identify the extremism that continued to brew in this deranged man as he completed his 12-year sentence from the first time he tried to stab innocent people to death out of hate.

Now a young girl is dead because of religion, intolerance, and hatred.

You seem to equate gay-pride parades as all out sex-fests and orgies. While there is some of that around the world at various Prides, I would say it has become slightly more toned-down as the shift for equality has spread through the masses and expanded beyond just the LGBT community. It's not uncommon for lots of people to go dressed normally to have a good time. Everything is street legal here - then again, in Austin it's legal for women to walk around topless anyway so there is a bit of that.

If she's 16, she's almost old enough to see an R-rated movie in America without an adult present - I'm pretty sure she can handle some rainbow flags and discussions about human rights.

Wow, standards for genocide are really lax these days. I mean if Israel wanted to wipe out the Palestinians in a genocide they could in a weekend but considering that their behavior is pretty much reactionary and they have stated over and over again that they don't want to kill civilians and even banned the death penalty I don't see how it is a genocide. Apartheid I will agree with though and I can not support Israel in that case but they are hardly systematically wiping out the Palestinian population.

They actually act pretty rationally given the situation they have on their hands. Although I would like to see a Palestinian state and the settlements to be removed as they are illegal as hell. But calling Israel genocidal is a blatant falsehood.

...any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: (a) Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Would say that's ironic, but it's clearly not. What did anyone think would happen by releasing this guy. He stabbed "people" which means more than one count no? So like, stabbing people at gay pride parades is his thing.
