Given the prevalence of the "I'll do what I want" mindset and infected assholes predictably refusing to self report or self quarantine and actively avoiding heath services screening procedures, the spread of the virus in the US and resulting public closures are inevitable.
I predict the cancellations of school days, sporting events, and other public gatherings will begin in the US as early as April as the other countries now mandating public closures seem to be on a 4-6 week timeframe from initial infection to public isolation implementation. It's not a matter of if it will happen but when and how disruptive it will be. I picked up my dry non-perishable foods yesterday.

Later Thursday, the health and welfare ministry said Abe’s request does not apply to day care centers for children and after-school facilities for elementary school students.

To clarify, title does link to article, however the article's headline is different than the post title I used here since the article's headline did not address the subject I was posting about here. The post title does match the bold text to the sub-article.

Italy went from zero cases to quarantining 10 towns - no work, commercial activity, school, events, or public transportation - in 12 hours.
It can happen fast. Glad you shopped.
