Sesame street has been garbage from day one we just have a nostalgic view of it...supposed to be about literacy and most of the characters speak poorly, full of "diversity", etc etc
Henson started it with good intentions, but it was quickly beset by the social engineers. And by quickly, I mean somewhere after the first couple of episodes.

That’s unfair, they have always had mostly good messages for kids. It was a major teaching tool for me. I remember an episode where a character died and they spent the whole thing addressing the kids’ and puppets’ sadness and concerns about it. Such a heavy topic and it’s amazing how well they communicated about it to kids. But there are two problems. (1) it has changed, it used to be relatable and funny for kids but then they had Cookie Monster talking about vegetables and it became more of a proxy for lazy parents which brings me to point (2), most parents are lazy and are content with plopping their kids in front of the TV instead of spending time with them. And you get what you pay (with your time) for. Oh and of course, (3) the New York liberal sociopaths got their hands on it and this is the predictable result.
