What? Are you telling me that Jon Stewart is a progressive leftist liberal who used his show as a propaganda tool for the benefit of the Democratic party?

Next you'll tell me that he's Jewish!

Honestly, it seems like whoever wrote this article is really stretching to paint Stewart in a negative light, when, in reality, the two instances he was called into the White House and then did a segment that Obama had covered don't really show much collusion between the two.

If anything, all this "revelation" does is reinforce what was pretty well known from the get-go: that Jon Stewart's show leaned heavily left. That's not too surprising, nor does it take away from what the show managed to accomplish over Stewart's run. I seriously think the writer is just grasping at straws in an attempt to make it seem like The Daily Show was totally controlled by the White House over the last eight years.

"Breaking news! Evil leftist news show has evil leftist views! Conspiracy?!"

I had high hopes that Voat's userbase would try to be better than reddit, but in the end voat is just shaping up to be another damn circlejerk

Still, that bit about Operation Mockingbird is an eye-opener.

I think this happened to John Oliver too.. He used to be pretty nutural about politics but now has gone off the deep end

I'm reminded of that bit from Bill Hicks' routine where he describes how the new president is sat down in a dark room full of smoking men and forced to watch a recording of the Kennedy assassination from a pov that we've never seen and they turn of the projector and go 'Any questions?' Not saying thats what happened, it was probably just money.

Or maybe John Oliver just covers issues that he thinks are important, and you happen to disagree with them. Why does everything have to go back to conspiracies and money?

I heard about that on Dan Carlin's podcast, and now here. I need to check out BIll Hicks.

Carlin also has some pretty interesting thing to say about Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald actually lived in cuba and Russia for a while, and while the government may have known something about the connection covered up any soviet involvement in the assassination because it would have led to a world war 3.

Any questions?

"Uh, just what my agenda is!"

"First we bomb Baghdad"

"You Got It" (For those who don't know Bill, he was talking about Persian Gulf War, Act One)

The TPP has been Obama's baby for ten years. I don't know if Obama ever was a good guy, but he certainly isn't now

He got his own show, on pay cable, without FCC censorship. A full hour long, no commercials, in depth. He just does not have to pander to the sound bite of .02 minutes anymore. He has made actual change and highlights ridiculous atrocities. He actually was the catalyst to how NYC bail bonds work. No deep end.

Uhh his show is only a full half hour. My only real issue with him and Stewart is that they refuse to touch the TTP/TTIP.

Nah I think he is just falling into the trap of thinking that the SJWs are right because of what they claim to stand for.

Really... Jon Stewart guilty of liberal bias? Who'd've thought.

In other breaking news, scientists confirm: "Sky is indeed Blue!"

Ideologues are perfectly okay with the propaganda they want to hear. That's why FOX News and The Daily Show have stayed on air.

It's a comedy show, I watch it not because I usually agree with the points that it's making but because it makes them in a funny way which makes me laugh.

But the bias is on the left doncha see? It's the liberal media and their damn reality that continues to dog the rightous free-marketeers!

What are you saying? It's an irrefutable fact that US media has a left leaning bias. Yeah ire not disputing that, I assume?

He actually addressed that in the most recent Daily Show episode. Basically sounds like Obama told him not to be a cynic. Hardly think that it qualifies as a "secret" meeting.

Well I didn't get a letter from the president notifying me of the meeting. What else are they trying to hide?!

Well if that's what the comedian says, we better believe him.

Stewart secretly met with President Obama on two politically-charged occasions, producing slanted content after the fact that favored the president’s image.

Secretly???

By signing his name in the White House guest book???

Common... this is such LAZY reporting with BRAIN DEAD logic.

"Controlled Opposition"???

He's a comedian... He makes fun of both sides; including Obama... this is just lazy media latching onto his appearance on the Larry Willmore's Nightly Show.

I'm not sure if my comment will be read but

I remember when Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert first came out. I LOVED IT. I thought that I was getting an inside scoop on the news I wasn't anywhere else. And I was to an extent.

I kind of stopped watching Jon Stewart after a while though because it started to just feel...like an agenda was being push. Obviously, in any news source (even satirical ones) an agenda was being pushed, but I realized it was just like all other propaganda.

I continued to watch the Colbert Report because it was hilarious, but I lost a lot of my faith. I was relatively young then, and thought that I knew everything there was to know about politics.

Obviously it is meant to be comedy, but sources like CNN and whatever are jokes, too. I guess the point is you really can't get real authentic news anymore, if you ever could.

You have to do a lot of research to gain a decent perspective on any issue, and most people aren't aware of this, or aren't willing to do so.

Same thing happened to me. In the beginning the show was great but in the last few years it seemed like he was really pushing certain viewpoints which was a huge turnoff. The show used to be about making fun or the news, and then it turned into pushing political agendas through comedy in a fake news format.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

I think everyone started to take the daily show too seriously. This isn't just the audience but the cast and host as well. Stewart was a voice of the discontent who highlighted the hypocrisy and absurd behavior of the news and the politics they covered. He said what many people were thinking and at some point he started to think he could influence what people thought. At that point things changed. He no longer was the voice of the young and disenfranchised but another person with an agenda. Once that happened his audience started to lose interest. They came back when he said things that resonated with them, but his agenda pushed them away. I think once Stewart realized this is when he started looking for other projects and planned his retirement.
