More heavy-handed cuckery from New Zealand.
I don't know about NZ cops, but in every city I've lived in, cops don't do all their business on a single "general" channel. The ones you can listen in on are considered "public" bands, which means anyone can listen in and talk all they want about them.
If US cops (at least the ones I know of) need to discuss anything sensitive, they communicate by cellphone or they use encrypted channels. That's why you'll hear SWAT or bomb squads being deployed, but you'll never hear them actually doing anything nor an final disposition from them -- it's all on a scrambled frequency. From what I understand, listening in on those frequencies is still technically legal in some areas.
