This has been going on for at least 30 years that I know of because I first heard about it when my friend enlisted in the Navy back in 1989. Old news. What do you expect when you send late teens and early 20 somethings out to sea for a long time in mixed company? You can't 'fix' human nature.

It wasn't just "sea duty" on love boats that was the issue.
It was always the lazy shitbag sea cows that got pregnant. "I don't like washing aircraft with turco!" "I don't like greasing rotor heads!" "I don't like FOD walkdown!"
Bitch, we all hated that shit, turco especially. And peanut butter grease. But, we did it anyway, so your unmarried pregnant fat asses could sit in the line shack eating snacks and doing your nails, then getting commendations for your wonderful paperwork skills.
One often wonders which officers didn't want to get busted for fraternization...
EDIT: just so it's clear, there were plenty of female sailors that didn't do this. Shitbags gonna shitbag though, regardless of your dick or lack thereof. But the sea cows were always the first in line to declare "women" issues.

FOD walks are fine if you use it to sally up to senior officers.

Also, when you incentivize pregnancy. Oh, you don't want to deploy? Just spread your legs.
