To be fair, it is logically obvious that nullification is allowed by the fact that they have juries at all.

If the outcome was defined entirely by the evidence then a judge or a computer could look at the evidence and make a decision.

The fact that you ask a panel of people for their interpretation means that they have to be allowed to interpret it however they want. Otherwise there would be no point in asking them.
