Little lies often turn into big ones.

No matter how honest the original intent, once you've extrapolated data through multiple iterations, each time focusing on a different bit, you will always find the conclusion you're looking for; even if it's not there. A paper, based on a paper, based on a paper, based on part of a study... is not going to draw reliable conclusions. And when the original sources can't even be cited, you're just making shit up at that point.
