Blatantly false title. They shut down his concert because he has an outstanding arrest warrant for a DUI, and they won't allow him to get around the court by performing by proxy.

Edit: I didn't say anything about whether this is a valid reason to prevent a concert by hologram. I'm simply pointing out the fact that it is not at all because of his lyrics.

Sorry but this is dumb. By an extension of this logic, we can't show movies that have actors with outstanding arrest warrants?

It may be dumb but that's the reason it was shut down. The title is false.

False equivalence, there. He's ducking the law, and is a fugitive. That's why he'd have to do a 'hologram show', to avoid attest. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you get to go about your day and try to make money being a public entertainer while also hiding from the law.

Not even the same. We can't interview Snowden VIA live stream! Though I could care less about this rapper and PR stunt

How is that legal, though? That's like saying "Because you'll be arrested if you come in our jurisdiction, you can't send email to people in our jurisdiction."

I know people love analogies but I think we're going to have a really hard time coming up with one that's good enough to compare to this...

If you are a criminal with an active warrant and they allow your rap concert to go forward then everyone attending the concert or helping to put on the concert could be considered assisting a fugitive and hindering a police investigation.

So a more fitting analogy would be, "Because you are ducking the law, we will not allow you to electronically bank or sell things to people in our jurisdiction because that would make them an accessory to your crime." If you really think about it, the cops could be considered real good guys by not arresting everyone involved in putting on the show.

Nothing about what you said is true since the man who banned the concert does not even know who Chief Keef is and indicated that he banned the concert because he heard that offensive stuff would be said in a public park.

Nothing in the mayor's statement indicated anything about a DUI.

I wish they'd stop calling it a hologram. I'm not sure what precise methodology they're using, but it sure as fuck ain't holography. Most likely just rear projection.

It's funny, but that's what annoys me most about this story.

I mean I think shutting his performance down is stupid, but calling a projection a hologram is just false.

Every place I've seen this reported has said "hologram" and I just instantly think that if they can't get that right, attributing the performance to a technology that doesn't exist in the manner that they obviously mean, then I can't trust any of the other information they present and I'm left with nothing to even have an opinion about because I have no idea what the actual situation is.

I know exactly what they mean, and that the term hologram probably originated from the promoters of the event, but ffs just do some research and correct the mistakes. At the very least they could use quotes...

Usually these shows are based on some variant of Pepper's Ghost.

Oh cool... I didn't know that was the name for that process.

I think you're probably right that they were going to use an angled glass screen, but I guess they'd still use a projection rather than a blue room stage. I gotta say the whole concept is kinda gimmicky to me.

Is the hologram black or poor or saying something that embarrasses rich people?

I'm not rich, not even a little, and I would be incredibly embarrassed if I said anything as vapid and pointless as the trash that oozes out of most rappers' mouths. I heard a Li'l Wayne song the other day that made me sad for humanity.

This is my question, too. How do you file a civil liberties case where the plaintiff is a company that is playing a hologram of a real person? The wording of that would be interesting to read.

Good job cops...by shutting down this concert, you're giving said rapper free press and a shitload of money in the upcoming civil case you're going to lose. Nicely played.

Wouldn't the police have to have some document from a judge in order to shut the show down? I think so.

Cops were taking orders from the mayor and other high up politicians. Will be interesting to see who is named in any upcoming lawsuit, if any lawyer will take the case that is.
