That stood out to me as well. I suppose that patrolling officers or ticket maids could be considered "peace officers" in a very vague sense. Not the fucking SWAT team. Nope, those are the kill you dead officers.

SO surprised they didn't kill the shooter, certainly not happy about someone losing their life, but justice was definitely served.

Yea actually, people get killed for much less usually.

[–] FPSFairy 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

I'm honestly surprised that this doesn't happen more often, particularly in states with higher gun ownership. Bursting into houses unannounced, armed and shouting, whether legally or not, will make people react to you as if you are a burglar, if only out of panic. For some people, that involves firing shots.

True, announcing yourself might mean lost evidence, but lost evidence against someone growing weed seems much more preferable to a lost life.

There have been cases where burglars employed this tactic, even shouting 'Police!' as they attack.

So plenty of reason for someone whose home is being violently breached to think that it's a home invasion by criminals.

It's hilarious that the article refers to them as ''Peace Officers', especially when they were conducting an armed raid on a civilian.

There's a philosopher that wisely stated that "justice" should be done in the public eye, so that the people can see what is happening and choose to chatise either party accordingly. By having these hero's work in the dead of night, and having prisoners kept far from others and disconnected, the actions of the justice system appear less harmful than they are.

Nah. Cops are shitlickers. The occasional good cop will try to correct the corruption and inevitably get removed from the force. Corruption is the name of the game. As is solidarity. Blue code and all that.

Maybe it's different in other countries (tho I doubt it.) In the US, cops are a bunch of shitlickers. Any good cops get kicked off the force while bad cops get promoted. It's despicable but true.

The SWAT team member who died was just following orders. Your comment is horrible. If anything, the leader of the SWAT team deserved to be shot, not someone who was just part of the team and not in charge of how the search was performed. SWAT team 101: Always follow the orders of your team leader.

[–] Dysnomia 1 points 8 points (+9|-1) ago

Weren't the brown shirts just following orders.

Maybe y'all authoritarian kiss-asses need to toe the line and make your own decisions. Swat guy obviously decided to be a cop. Decided to be a swat guy. Decided to raid a house they suspected contained illegal weapons. He got the action he wanted.

That's also soldier 101, yet "just following orders" isn't an excuse for committing war crimes.

Good story, but it's almost 6 months old.

The grand jury did, however, indict Magee for possession of marijuana while in possession of a deadly weapon, a third-degree felony.

Not a total victory, this still sounds pretty serious.

Certainty not, but up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 dollar fine is noting to scoff at.

So if I have pot it's bad, but if I have pot AND a legal gun it's worse? What if I had a knife, would it be the same charge?

Felony, so guns get taken away. And that's 1 strike against you, with the cops constantly over your shoulder just waiting to get numbers 2 and 3.

It's a "house always wins" sort of thing. They wanted an outcome, they got it. Not the WAY they wanted it, but they got it.

this makes no sense, why did the judge allow a no knock warrant? They guy was wanted for marijuana and firearms. If the swat knocked, what was he going to do swallow illegal firearms and flush the marijuana down the toilet? If they believed him to be a big time seller then there was no way he was going to be able to hide it in the time the policed knocked on the door. The judge who allowed the warrant should be disbarred, or if he was given false information then the DA should be disbarred. Either way the judge is to blame, if I was this home owner I would sue the shit out of the judge for making a stupid decision and ruining this guys and the cops life.

Yup. Intimidation at it's finest. That's why I sleep with a Beretta under my pillow. Did I mention they told me they're gonna remove the floodplain exemption from the village lawn ordinance so they can make me now my lawn. If they succeed, I hope they all drown. Proper floodplain management is more important than cutting my grass. Fucking pigs.

Have a friend that after being turned in by the pizza guy went to flush his basil. While holding back the bathroom door with one foot while the officer tries to push his way in he flushed it. Came out and laughed. The officer went into the bathroom and stuck his hand in their shitter and pulled it out. Apparently its hard to flush even a small amount. What's even more shocking is the officer was willing to stick his hand in their shitter to pull it out. I think the sticking your hand in a shitter for a quarter oz is really the behavior that needs fixed. I mean who's really the junkie? My buddie wouldn't have stuck his hand in his own shitter to grab it that's gross!

If it's OK for cops to just bust down your door and do whatever they want without identifying themselves, what's to keep gangbangers from adopting the same tactics? "STAY DOWN, POLICE!"
