Suspended, with pay. Terroristic threats and this guy gets a paid vacation? Fuck that shit, the whole suspension with pay BS needs to go away. If you are suspended from your job you are not WORKING there for should not be PAID since you are not WORKING.

People need to go to their city council meetings and make this an issue. This can all be changed through the city council. If your current council persons will not address police corruption, people can make that a voting priority. If enough people go, and council persons think their job is on the line, they will act. If the council refuses to act in the end, the people only need to get a certain amount of signatures on a referendum petition. At this point the city council can either pass what the referendum petition calls for or put it to the population on the ballot.

I think people often forget that cops are paid with tax dollars collected at the local level, their pay, pensions, benefits etc are all granted to them by the people. If the people want, and are willing to act, it can just as easily all be taken away by the people.

Are they paid for by tax dollars? I was under the impression they made ends meet via tickets/fines etc.

As long as the people are willing to put up with weeks or months long strikes by police union members.

The city i live in doesn't have a police force, thus no corruption. There are sheriffs that patrol very rarely however.

Terroristic threats

Hey, now. That's not fair! As it was explained in comments for another police officer that said such and such about breaking people's fucking necks, it's really just a "verbal technique" that is used to "calm down suspects." /s

Sometimes it works, sometimes they need to just STOP RESISTING STOP RESISTING! bash bash bash

Honestly, I think the biggest impediment to reform is first of all, police officers outright demanding more respect from everyone, meaning all should bow down submissively in all ways AND... The groupies that go out of their way to justify it no matter what. Failure to justify clear misconduct is being anti-police to the extreme, according to the pro-police circles.

The verbal technique for calming people down has an actual name: command presence.

This means you have a presence, posture, and voice that exudes command, and makes others want to do what you say. That's right. It's the art of frightening people into submission.

I'm repulsed by police brutality and misconduct, but the 'suspended with pay' is honestly reasonable. They can't be working while there's an investigation against them whether or not it's substantive. If a cop who's actually doing their job correctly has an accusation levied against him unjustly, they need due process like everyone else.

That said, this horseshit of them finding no wrongdoing all the time needs to end. Immediately. That guy needs fired and arrested. It's open and shut. Fuck him in particular.

Have you ever had a job where you could get suspended with pay? I have not, would love to though.

If you did what was seen in that video, would you be 'suspended with pay'?

If you're lucky you'll be taking unpaid leave while you are in jail trying to defend yourself against the criminal charges. Most likely? After a few days off unpaid, you'd be fired.

Bullets don't kill people, death kills people.

You can die from massive brain damage, cardiac arrest or excessive blood loss. A little piece of metal isn't the problem so threatening to put a bullet through someone's head isn't a big deal.
