To be fair, Comcast is a corporation, so they pretty much are the government.

As a socialist, this is something I want to unite with libertarians on.

We both have our boogeymen, socialists hate butthole corporations, and libertarians hate butthole government. But in a lot of countries like the US, they're the same fkn thing.

It's no coincidence that Chicago now has a "cloud tax" which negatively affects Comcast competition such as Netflix & Hulu..

Chicago is one of Comcast biggest markets in terms of revnue.

Just like Atlanta and Philadelphia.

Don't expect Google Fiber in any of those towns as long as the Comcast lobby is strong.

In a sense, yes. They have a fuckload of power and control over a ton of people, but not enough. That's why the corporate masses and their political sock puppets are pushing for the TPP. Then they're not just pretty much the government, they are the government.

We have /v/TPPrally for those who want to put a stop to this bullshit.

Thank God. I was afraid that ideology would follow over to Voat. It's one of the main reasons I distanced myself from Libertarianism...ironically enough a big reason I abandoned the Republican party (aside from their stances on equal rights) because of their love of big business. Before Libertarianism became an "In" thing, there wasn't so much of a Corporate-Love-Affair as there is in that community, now.

In a level playing field, I'm of a LIbertarian mindset. But when the game is already stacked so heavily in the favor of corporations and their elite benefactors, you can't have a "free market".

Imagine a game of Monopoly where one player has amassed 90% of the property and money on the board. That's the scenario we are in right now. How do people expect the rest of the game to play out if there are no rules/regulations?

In a world where everything is owned by someone else free speech rights must extend beyond its traditional applications.

I've always wondered how liberal anti-corporate journalism can survive in a corporate world. Well it turns out it can't.

It can, as long as it stays to the script of social issues. Economic ones are a big no-no.

Exactly. We have a term for those people: "corporate liberals."

Good on them for supporting the rights of gays to marry, but realize how little these rights mean when the entire economic system fails for everyone.

I wouldn't really say the TPP is an economic issue. It's... an issue of corporations over throwing our democracy. Whatever you would call that.

Either way, shamelessly plugging /v/TPPrally because fighting this shit is important.

between August 1, 2013, and January 31, 2015, Ed Schultz covered the TPP on 71 different segments, not including the time he brought up the issue during the network’s coverage of the State of the Union Address in 2015.

I was never a big fan of Ed Schultz, but I've gotta respect the guy for trying to get the word out on the TPP, and you know he'd probably been harassed about avoiding the subject during that whole 1.5 year period.

It's worse than that!

He did a piece on Internet bullying showing ONLY GIRLS get bullied and got that piece of shit Brianna Wu air time to talk about it.

Meanwhile the very harassment he condemns men for doing? He himself has been responsible for encouraging using that very show!

Remember Tom Wheeler? He turned out to be a nice guy who respected net neutrality and John Oliver called him a dingo (as in a dingo eating a baby.) And encouraged everyone watching the show to spam wheelers inbox.

What a fucking hypocrite. I loved his show at first but I can't stand his liberal shilling bullshit.

He is a talking head. Known that since the first time I saw him. It is obvious in how he just tells you want you want to hear: quick, short diatribes on easy targets. He knows what Americans want to hear: Why the weak suck. He never goes after anyone important because he is a coward, that is easy to observe. He is a people pleaser who tells people what they want to hear. As opposed to say, Noam Chomsky, who is an actual critic, instead of someone who just goes on diatribes against the easy to humiliate.

Oliver is a liberal who loves big government. TPP is literally big-government overreach for the benefit of their special interests.

Why do people think everyone's views fit into these little boxes called liberal or conservative? People's views are often much more complex than that. Maybe it used to be easier to think that way or something, I wouldn't know, but it seems asinine to pretend this is a left/right thing.

Also, are you people honestly dumb enough to think that John Oliver has complete creative control over Last Week Tonight? Just because he's the host, doesn't mean he owns the show and can do whatever he pleases with it. He probably answers to many bosses, like HBO, or their parent company, Time Warner. I doubt he even comes up with most of the stories, they probably have a huge staff that works on the show, and he's just a small part of it.

He isn't a liberal, he is a narrative. He is a talking head puppet. He appeals to liberals (people with lower IQ's, but who are smug because they think they are better than some conservative redneck out there somewhere). MSM installs these talking heads to create the narrative between both parties. That's why issues like immigration or just any economic issues aren't on the agenda.

because we live in a good country. this country cares about us and would never do anything truly evil to push through an agenda, and while im at it huge campaign contributions given to super pacs and funneled in to campaigns arent bribes thats just how the system works and freedom. did i mention guns because guns mean we're free. huzzah for our soldiers better not complain about the wars that would be unamerican and a threat to our liberty.

now have another sip of that koolaid i promise you cant even taste the cyanide.
