I agree. This is not news. That sub is a sub for cops and they can do whatever they like in their own sub. I thought this got posted here because it had happened in v/news or something.

Downvoat and no comment? Grow up.

Same. Without improvements to the moderation here, v/news wills lowly become v/bullshitanddrama.

No.

We go there - mods can do whatever they like in their own sub - and we'll have mods running the show like overlords here too.

No way. It goes that way and fuck if this place is any different from Reddit.

Shouldn't it be /v/subversedrama?

It's the same as anywhere else, including real life... the cops can't tolerate any questioning of their authority in any capacity, or the authority of other hypothetical cops.

The mod of that subverse seems to want a safe space for cops. Seems a bit much like reddit.

Sad that these thugs even have a subverse at all. We really don't need another /r/ProtectAndServe running around brigading other subs, promoting torture, illegal war, and assault of children and unarmed disabled folk.

fucking hell, really? what about fatpeoplehate, lets get rid of them next, do you not see that just banning a community does not work, the mods are power tripping so ban hammer.

In the particular conversation cited by @clayton, it seemed more like the anti-cop person couldn't stand the questioning. A conversation needs to go both ways.

Very true. And every user is free to create their own sub, with their own rules. That's why we have subs specifically for negative polices stories and everything in between. What would make us like reddit, is if only one viewpoint were to be parroted. I'm very critical of the actions of police officers but people should certainly be encourage to offer the alternate perspective.

Not every cop is like that, there are some good people just trying to do their best.

He has his views. He is more a believer in the bootstrap theory than I, but this is the great thing about Voat...it has users with a diverse set of ideas.

Not surprising that a pig is a fan of retard-level shit like "bootstraps". These types are the same ones that believe the earth is flat and 6000 years old.

They should just become police officers. The requirements are almost null.

I propose Voat have a system put in place where the people can oust mods that they're unhappy with. We don't want any of the unchecked cunts running rampant on Voat like they have at that other place.

It's something you can share in /v/ideasforvoat. It has come up before, but generally when it has been suggested the users have been opposed to such a system.

I think this is an unfair criticism. @Clayton is a great guy and a fair moderator...I also disagree with nearly every one of his opinions and have had some great conversations with him. The ire over this seems misplaced to me. Users can't go into /v/FatPeopleHate and even post positive comments about fat people--let alone a link. Similarly, you can't go into /v/benicetopeople and post things opposite the intended purpose of that sub. There are specialized subs for specialized things. I argue this is one of the issues inherent in allowing all kinds of speech...it also allows certain users to limit certain things. Personally, I view this as a necessary evil.

To be fair, the sidebar in that sub is incredibly vague. When they say, "be respectful," what they really mean is cop talk for, "don't say anything that I don't like or I'll tase you." They just need to update their sidebar to reflect the purpose of their sub. It's their sub, they can do whatever they want. Ban anyone that's not a verified cop, etc.

"be respectful,"

STOP RESISTING.

[–] Sorahzahd 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Be respectful in cop lingo = "coddle me in an effort to make sure my precious snowflake feelings don't get hurt". If it weren't so utterly pathetic, it would be really sad that they're as emotionally stunted as they are mentally.

Why can't we allow time for the upvoat/downvoat process to work? Wouldn't comments naturally rise or settle, with ridiculousness sinking to the bottom? Throwing out a sausage sucking reference as hominem is not furthering the discussion, but post deletion should be a last resort, used only rarely, and never to silence dissenting opinion. IMO the ridiculous "sausage sucking" statement should stand and be subject to the voats long before it should get deleted.

I went to the modlog and restored the moderator-removed comments by hand for context. Here you go.

P.S.: I'm not religious but may @Atko be blessed for implementing the modlog.

Some can't handle the power of being a Mod.
