I want them to succeed in putting this up here in Oklahoma so bad. I still can't believe our governor is fighting the ruling of the Oklahoma Supreme Court not the U.S. Supreme Court, Oklahoma's own Supreme Court.

Easy votes, that's why. He doesn't have to win, he just has to make a show of being a sore loser about it.

If people are tearing down Confederate statues, why would they allow this?

It's Detroit. The statue will be destroyed. It won't because it's controversial or whatever - it'll just be stolen for its scrap value.

They've anticipated that. They have the mould it was made with and are prepared to keep manufacturing copies as often as they need. Worst comes to the worst, they could always cast it in concrete.

according to the article it is being cast in bronze, not exactly the softest metal.

If it has to be replaced a lot, may as well make it out of plastic.

The controversy is that other religions can put up statues wherever they want. Namely government property. But when the Satanic Temple comes along and tries to do the same everyone loses their minds. The satanic temple fights for equal representation. But under separation of church and state none of the religious statues should be there in the first place. Which puts the traditionally religious statues in trouble. If they allow one, they have to allow them all. And boy does that get the christians panties in a twist. They don't like being told that they aren't the only ones who can have them.

Did you check out the picture of it? Even if there were no religious context passerby's would still say, "That thing's messed up."

Actually, its not about satan at all.

" What we Believe The Satanic Temple practices non-theistic Satanism, we believe that religion can, and should, be divorced from superstition. As such, we do not believe in either God or the Devil as supernatural forces. We bow to no god or gods and celebrate our outsider status. To embrace the name Satan is to embrace rational inquiry removed from supernaturalism and archaic tradition-based superstitions. The Satanist should actively work to hone critical thinking and exercise reasonable inquiry in all things. Our beliefs must be malleable to the best current scientific understandings of the material world — never the reverse."

The Satanic Temple is set to unveil its controversial goat-headed Baphomet sculpture at an undisclosed location in Detroit on Saturday night.

At undisclosed location? Guess I won't be able to make it then. Darn.

On its website, organizers are promising a “hedonistic celebration” and a “night of chaos, noise and debauchery” at the Detroit unveiling.

Sounds like a pretty good party, guess I for once actually miss living close to Detroit.
