First, I disagree that hating is criminal. Hate is a state of mind, not tort and not an action. Either you broke a law by some action or inaction, or you didn't. Your state of mind should not enter into it.
Therefore, there is no real hate crime. But if you want to pretend hating is criminal and can define hate reliably, my money is that hate crimes are increasing simply because the bar is constantly being lowered. It won't be long before looking at someone the wrong way will be defined as a hate crime.

Does anyone know the statistics of Real hate crimes vs Fake hate crimes? I’d be curious to find out. I wonder if Fakes went up since 2016?
