Banks, Comcast, and private prisons all making large donations to Hillary Clinton... this makes me uncomfortable

Hillary Clinton sat on the board of Walmart.

Maybe that factored into her opinion against Bernie's $15 minimum wage. Maybe not, but I can't tell. That's the big problem with the current campaign finance system. In every similar case, I can't tell how a politician's opinions were influenced by political donations or lobbying.

While that's a huge problem, there are problems with the alternatives to our system. In Brazil, all candidates get free airtime on Brazilian TV, even joke canidates.

I think what Winston Churchill said about democracy applies to the USA's current campaign finance system. "No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

Lastly, I wholeheartedly agree with FDR when he said this. "It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something."

no. That's bribery. Not lobbying. Lobbying is just donations of massive amounts of money to make people aware of what you're doing.

Ugh... I wish there was some way to spread that message to the mainstream. I have a feeling that a lot of people who support her don't really realize the people she's being backed by, and what that means. Like, it's honestly sickening that she has so much support while she's pulling this shit.

A top adviser from 2008 is now back to advise her Super Pac in Iowa. He doubles as a Monsanto lobbyist. Jerry Crawford.

Nothing wrong with Monsanto. But their is plenty wrong with the notion of "Lobbying".

Clinton crashing would be all the headlines right now if Trump wasn't hogging the spotlight.

I have a strong feeling that a lot of people with money want Hilary in office, and Trump is meant to be a sideshow to elevate her there. I really hope she doesn't win, she scares the shit out of me.

Censorship! Censorship for all! Oh and any corporate protection you want, just make sure to submit your bill in time for congress to pass it, 'donations' go in the super pac to the right

Greewald did a great article back in November about those people:

The new slave system.

I mean, can you fucking imagine that this so-called greatest country on Earth has areas where you can't fucking travel to in fear of getting shot? Its unspoken discrimination and a huge drain on taxpayers all perpetuated by the drug war and the prison system.... but shhh black communities are doing it to themselves right?

Don't mean to break the circlejerk but can we at least admit most of these people were arrested for doing something they knew was illegal, even if you think it should be legal.

People should support a candidate who at bare minimum wants to decriminalize drugs and legalize cannabis.

At the very least, it might help spread the message about why people shouldn't vote for her. I'm guessing it'd be fairly easy to include some of that stuff in there, and then it could potentially pick up traction on social media. Could be worth a shot, even if it's a long shot.

I keep wondering how more of SOAD and RATM's music isn't brought up more with all the displeasure with our governments and authorities. Their messages have been spot on and relevant for years with what's been going on. They really need revivals. Why is it so damn hard to jar people from their comfortable normalcies? How bad does it have to get before we all wake up? I'm very concerned about my future and my children's future etc. What course of action can we all take that isn't futile and ignored?

I don't see the difference between investing in private prisons or buying stock in a slave shipping company. The idea that you need "growth" for this "industry" turns my stomach. It is truly disgusting. How such a thing came to be would be a mystery but the answer is obvious: people will do any scummy thing they can for money.

I'm sure the Akin Gump lawyer who lobbied in support of the slavers is a bright man. He could have done so many great things with his life, and still made plenty of money. Instead he makes laws to make private prisons more profitable, allowing the stockholders to profit from slave labor. Sleep well in your mansion tonight, scumbag.

Yeah the fact that's it's even considered an industry is honestly treasonous.

If anything that industry needs to be outlawed and destroyed.

We can't prevent her from becoming the first woman president ... I believe it's been planned long ago.

Some private prisons require 90% occupancy rate and if the state doesn't maintain it, they can charge or sue the state for breaking contract. They probably already have a plan of making every prison private and make it so they have 100% occupancy.
