Yeah, back when I was in high school we had a student like that. He was the only black kid in AP classes (the thougher classes) and he got friend to help him cheat all the time. Leaving answers to tests up folded up at the pencil sharpener, outright whispering answers all the time during tests.
He got caught cheating on a test and because he was the only black kid in AP classes and because he was on the football team, nothing happened to him.
Oh it's beyond real. Think of like schools who seem like 100% football programs. They don't put that much money into football just to have "talent" taken off the team due to bad grades/cheating/bad behavior in general. My friend at college played in the NCAA tournament for basketball. I would call him up to chill/go get food and he was always practicing or getting cardio/gym hours in. He would miss tons of classes if the schedule got busy, but still passed without the extra "assistance" the faculty gives to sports members.
