Vigilante justice is all well and good. But blind vigilante justice is just murder with a self pat on the back.

So what's the difference? Do you need to call in vigilante CSI and do vigilante forensics before you mob up and lynch a rapist to death?

Vast majority of vigilante activity is begun with a simple accusation by ONE person for an event that had no other witnesses.

Yes. Vigilante justice is often just murdering innocent people. That's the whole debate with vigilante justice. Sometimes it's better justice than the justice system, but too often it's just more pointless suffering.

No, but you do need an impartial investigator. In the past, these folk were called "private detectives".
