Would love to see a picture of the US team who won! Anyway huge congrats to them.
Math is the real language of magic that our human ancestors got so misled trying to understand and get some control by ritual and appeals to deities to gain control over the chaos of life.
If we renamed Math 101 - to "Language used in the basis of modern spell craft 101"
Would kids get excited about Math then?
When they understood it solves the problems that seers and animal sacrifice never did?
Presenting Math as dry and rational instead of the most powerful miraculous tool in the human arsenal is a mistake IMHO, we should tell kids this is the basis for understanding and changing the world.
It successfully does what priests, prophets, Shaman, alchemists always wanted to accomplish but failed at.
We should make Math sexy. Because it is sexy if you understand what it has made possible, the dreams of people since forever.
It can enable us to accomplish what the prayers never did. It is a language to understand and control outcomes in reality.
Perhaps calling mathematicians real wizards would help interest children in math. I mean all the other historical people who claimed to predict rain, or the future were fakes - yet they retain their mystery and attraction for so many.
Mathematicians are behind every human dream achieved. They should be mysterious and heroic when presented to young people.
Want to learn the secrets kid? Gain powers? First learn math!
