Don't do that. There are legitimate reasons for leaving water out in the desert.

It's a tradition among hunters and hikers to leave jugs of water on trails because if a fellow hunter or hiker is in a bad spot, he can find water and wait it out until help arrives.

Imagine you are out hunting. Your ATV rolls, you break your arm, the ATV is inoperable, and you are miles away from help. But, you saw a cache a little bit back, so you head there. OK, cool, it's going to be a while before your hunting party notices you are missing, but you have water, so you'll be fine.
