Yes, let's deny climate change today. Let's do that. That always makes us look smart.

Well, it's an important issue that people want to discuss. The whole point of v/news is to discuss a range of issues or to submit other topics you do want to discuss. This study is at odds with the prior NOAA study and it seems like a decent area for discussion. Personally, I don't know enough about either study to comment on them. If you have a strong opinion one way or the other, certainly share it and support it :)

I read it, then googled global warming hiatus. I came up with pages of stories from last month retracting this study because they were using the wrong data. There's a new study showing global temperatures are actually rising just as quickly as they have been the past 20 years.

I made a whole comment about it, but here's the one with the chart. Another comment I made has some director basically saying they didn't have the correct data.

Satellite data from the Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) group also shows a prolonged “hiatus” in global warming. After November of this year, RSS data will be in its 21st year without warming. Ironically, the so-called “hiatus” in warming started when then vice President Al Gore and environmental groups touted RSS satellite data as evidence a slight warming trend

You didn't even read it

Most sites, and news organizations, now either have a bias in one direction or the other. Because this site is a conservative source doesn't disqualify it. It may be owned by people whom I find abhorrent, but most things are.

It's pretty clear his implication is that the source of the information presented (namely the company that runs the website) is biased against the idea that climate change occurs or even has been occurring, and has even admitted openly that their stance is based on ideology and they don't care about the science or facts of the matter.

As such, it's not an independent and reliable source for discussion of this topic, and can readily be disregarded. It's not an ad hominem attack because he's not commenting on their characters or personal lives in any way, nor is he presenting false or misleading information about them. They are politically conservative, they are pundits, and their ideological stances are relevant to their credibility in this instance.

Why are these facts more important then all the other facts showing there is an increase? Serious question.

What a pile of horseshit. Even their own graph (which I'm sure has been slanted) shows an average increase in temperature.

What they also don't mention is that +3C is all that's needed to completely destroy our entire agriculture so an increase of +0.3 might not sound "statistically significant" but when you consider it's 15% of the way towards COMPLETE EXTINCTION I think that is a bit more significant then they give credit to. Here is a nice graphic

Not Denying Climate Change, Does this graphic account for the inevitable switch to solar/wing/nuclear/electric cars in the future due to limited supply of fossil fuels?

I guess real information from NOAA may hurt someone's feelings.

Yep 1 butthurt so far. Downvotes for a federal study?

NY Times saying that they had the data wrong when they announced global warming was slowing down.

“The notion that there was a slowdown in global warming, or a hiatus, was based on the best information we had available at the time,” said Thomas R. Karl, director of the National Centers for Environmental Information.

Here's Science Daily, they've got a neat chart that shows temperatures still steadily climbing.

I didn't even have to leave the first page of Google.

Oh, how I wish I had the points to downvoat this.

What other false things could we push to the front page of news? I wonder.

Because the specific claims of the article have already been debunked - there doesn't seem like much point in discussing them. Listen, if you want to stick your head in the sand I'm all for defending your right to do that. Just don't expect the rest of us to join you there.

You've posted about as unreliable a source as you could find. They're a Republican mouthpiece, and they don't even try to hide that fact. Lies and manipulation? Really? Did you think nobody would vet your source?
