as long as the Chinese Government keeps up the trade thing they can do whatever they want.

More importantly, as long as certain Chinese individuals keep selling made-in-china-for-china stuff (which is so much cheaper/better for the price than made-in-China-for-export stuff, i.e., almost literally everything available at retail in the West) to westerners online. I've gotten everything from $30 equivalent knives for under $10 to a friggin' USB Bluetooth dongle for $2 and free shipping that way. I feel for the people of China, but holy hell have I gotten some deals out of that country.

I thought about doing that. Have you had any problems with the manufacturers or custom agents?

Worst I've had is some of the computer accessories having really limited drivers. Well, that and one VGA to composite adapter having no buttons to adjust the picture and really needing them. Most of this stuff can be found on amazon, though, to the point that I've actually started sorting by prime elligibility. Wind up paying, say, $10 instead of $5 for the equivalent of a product that costs several times either option and getting it two days later with a solid return policy. If you really want to save money, you can go to E-bay and get it shipped on the slow boat from china for free. I've done that a few times, too, no problems aside from the shipping taking forever.

Edit: That said, I'm not ordering directly from the manufacturer, but from some guy with an e-bay or amazon account and connections to the manufacturer (like, I suspect a lot of them are either employees making some extra money off the clock and at their employer's expense, or connected to the triad. I have no idea how the free shipping from China works if there's not, like, drug trafficking or something equally illegal and profitable being covered up by this stuff). There's a few websites that are even more closely connected to China, like aliexpress, but I've never used them. Actually going direct to the manufacturer seems like it would be tough, if you weren't making an order of a few thousand to sell.
