It really is a shithole. It is a particularly bad example of a growing and (in my opinion) very dangerous entity - clickbait non-content and personal opinion blogs masquerading as journalism. That so many fail to see through the facade and swallow their opinion-filled BS as fact is frankly disturbing.

Hopefully the silver lining of events like this will be that it awakens more of their "readers" to the reality of their content and (lack of) morals.

Blog networks. More competition that's better, smarter and/or draws more people keeps sprouting up everyday. Low paying internet ad money. They were an institution with terrible loose journalistic morals starting out and now they're in an even more cutthroat environment.

Sounds about right.

I don't think I've rooted this much for the Hulk since I was a kid. Hopefully he succeeds in suing that fucking cesspool into oblivion.

"Condé Nast's CFO Tried To Pay $2,500 for a Night With a Gay Porn Star" ...and 0 fucks were given worldwide.

This is low even by Gawker standards.

David Geithner, brother of ex-Obama Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, is currently the chief financial officer of Condé Nast.

Well I'll be...

This is the worst of the internet: granting rags like Gawker the tools to give the National Enquirer treatment to random schmoes - promptly resulting in their intimate details illuminated on desks and laps across the globe.

Somebody explain to me how this is much different from say, a bunch of gay SJWs going through a CEO's political donation records and getting him fired for supporting traditional marriage? The progressives have already established the tactic of using someone's personal disposition to wreck their career and life. It's fairly common practice now.

So is there some nuance I'm missing or are their chickens coming home to roost? Sure it's a disgusting modus operandi, but hey, they started it. Sort of seems they don't like the taste of their own medicine to me.
