Well who has the real facts? The cops will just manufacture lies and cover up the truth. Nothing can be trusted from what is said from behind the thin blue line.

No need to wait....all you'll get are lies and coverups.

That's quite an assumption. Imagine if no one had waited for all the facts in the Michael Brown case... oh wait they didn't. And look how that ended up. This just happened and everyone is already jumping out with the "Black lives matter" stuff. All we have is some grainy video with zero explanation of what happened to get to that point. Let's wait a bit and see what comes out in the coming days/weeks.

A year ago, I watched a video of a man getting strangled to death by the NYPD. All officers involved have walked away with no charges pressed against them.

Please don't get nasty as I'm only playing devils advocate here, but what do you think people should do if absolutely nothing comes out? Or even if something does come out but it's too implausible or unreasonable to believe.

I distrust police in general as well. Still, is it really worth it to break basic human rights like being innocent until proven guilty worth breaking? I mean, if we change the law to be able to punish people without actual proof, don't you think the same can be applied to you if you ever you make enemies powerful enough?

Can you cite any source when a cop blatantly lied or covered up the truth? Maybe a statistic on how often this happens? I've never seen any problems with officers. They've always seemed to be doing their job fairly.

Cops are caught lying constantly. Good luck finding any statistic kept on that. They don't even keep statistics on how many people the police kill.

Right, like you can cite where cops lie.

Like all blanket statements, I don't think it is right to just talk about cops in general being corrupt. The police are just trained citizens doing a job. Many get into the job because they want to do the right thing so blaming all cops is not the right way to go.

We absolutely need to think about how cops are trained to rely on lethal force too much and about how militarized cops are getting but we shouldn't go around vilifying the whole force.
