A billion dollar loss also indicates a decrease in vegetables who watch football all week. Could be a sign people are finding better things to do which is never a bad thing.

Hopefully it can be used as an indicator. Espn loses $5 billion next year would mean even less vegetables. A sign of actual progress.

This is a valid point. What's scary is that it may likely have been just an indicator all along. They don't care about the money at all. That it could always been a canary in the cave for current interest is a scary concept; That a billion dollar enterprise was nothing more than a litmus test.
