I genuinely feel ashamed to say I'm a feminist. Feminism is about equal fucking rights, not about women being better than men. I talked to one of those SJW's who truly don't get the very meaning of feminism. When I brought up male rape, she laughed at me and said that I "as a woman" should know better. The actual flying fuck does that mean?

62

[–] MediocreMeatyOgre 3 points 62 points (+65|-3) ago

Serious question: if Feminism is really about equal rights, shouldn't it be called Humanism? Why name your movement about equality after one gender and omit the other?

2
27

[–] GooberGobias 2 points 27 points (+29|-2) ago

The time of feminism being about equal rights is long past. With each passing day, it becomes clearer and clearer that this is a female supremacy movement that must be resisted at every turn.

If your actual goal is equality, please join us under the banner of egalitarianism and humanism and reject this hateful feminist nonsense.

I agree. I see things like this all the time. What the feminists dont get is simply this. And i'll probably get downvoted into oblivion for saying this, but here it is. There are simply some things women CANT do. I do not think a woman can do anything a man can do. It must be a partnership between the sexes in order for society to function properly.

So from what I gather is that this is boiling down to "Their feelings were hurt, they felt harassed, but no actual harassment took place".

Effects of feminism on MEN

Feminism is all about silencing dissenting views. Feminists can only thrive as long as their fanatical philosophy isn't exposed to public scrutiny. This is why cowardly piece of shit feminists avoid live debates.

0
39

[–] Bkow 0 points 39 points (+39|-0) ago

Nope. That's the gist of it. The women harassed, got him fired and are pushing for him to go to prison for saying they shouldn't harass another young man.

14

[–] i_am_not_crazy 0 points 14 points (+14|-0) ago

Yes, how can you not see that these innocent victims were just educating other people online, and child child touching, woman raping, privileged shit lord began harassing them.

Funny how any story can be twisted if you but the right twist to it. I still think

"Online bullies falsely accused man of harassment" sums it up perfectly.

That's basically what I got from it as well. But I haven't seen the actual tweets so its a little hard to tell at the moment.

0

[–] SharonLeeFan 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

What you missed is the important part: this woman, Steph Guthrie, is abusing the legal system to exact revenge on an innocent man for the most petty of reasons. She SHOULD (but definitely won't) be charged with something for blatantly filing a false report to police. She is very obviously not the least bit afraid of the man whose life she is attempting to ruin. From the article:

"Yet Guthrie and Reilly didn’t behave as though they were remotely frightened or intimidated: They convened a meeting of friends to discuss how Elliott should be publicly shamed; they bombarded their followers with furious tweets and retweets about him (including a grotesque suggestion from someone pretending she was a 13-year-old that he was a pedophile); they could and did dish it out."

0
40

[–] BlackBetty 0 points 40 points (+40|-0) ago  (edited ago)

No. They didn't feel harassed. They were doing the harassing. This man lost his job as a result of their stalking. They even attempted to frame him for pedophilia. These women are a menace and they should be the ones on trial. If this judge has any sense, he will refer them for charges.

0
6

[–] X____sign_here____ 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago  (edited ago)

What's interesting is their lack of forethought. If this man does indeed go to jail, that sets a precedent, and then these women would be exposed to the same fate - who are probably much more deserving of punishment for their actions.

I don't understand why people can't understand that divisiveness won't get you anywhere. You're not helping yourself or your cause when you do things like this. If you ever get to the point where you think it is ok to ruin someone's life simply because they disagree with you, you need to check your damn self.

3

[–] explorevoat 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

Divisiveness is a very powerful and successful strategy as proven for years by those who conquer other peoples. Divide the natives, find the grievances, exploit them, get the natives fighting each other, and turn the people who feel most aggrieved into active agents against the greatest threats to your occupation.

0
1

[–] slick3333 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

1
5

[–] explorevoat 1 points 5 points (+6|-1) ago

It gets a lot of people very rich and into powerful positions. Have you never heard "divide and conquer?"

The West is being exposed to military occupation level attempts at dividing the population against itself. This is how you find those willing to inform and aid with the suppression of the majority, or the most threatening group in the country being occupied. Probably that group includes straight white guys.

It seems like the occupation is off to a great start. The question I would love to hear your answer to is: who is the outside occupying force trying to neutralize the part of society most capable of resistance?

0
2

[–] namealreadytaken 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

The West == the US. Just because the US is militarising its police, doesn't mean the rest of us are too.

0

[–] whatthehelldamnguy 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Won't get them anywhere? They are probably getting massive donations from feminists right now, they are getting this guy put in prison, and they are making sure everyone knows that simply disagreeing with them will put you behind bars. So they are getting a lot. We need to start pushing back. The laws need to change. Now.

0
1

[–] Shammyhealz 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

They're also diminishing any support they might get from people who are not radical feminists. They're even undermining the support of moderate feminists. At this rate it won't be long before the word "feminist" carries very bad connotations with it.

They're alienating people, and that's not something you want to do when you're a minority assuming you want to do anything other than have some pals to bitch about how the world's against you.

[–] jammi 2 points 75 points (+77|-2) ago  (edited ago)

So why do you keep ignoring the radical crazies? If you don't support that under the feminist umbarella, you should either focus on getting rid of those people, or start calling yourselves something else, like us egalitarians do. In my mind, the term feminist has been too tarnished by the radical misandrist, female supremacy movement to ever recover, and they definitely have both plenty of power and the majority of the feminist movement visibility.

2
69

[–] eulogyjones 2 points 69 points (+71|-2) ago  (edited ago)

So why do you keep ignoring the radical crazies

They ignore them and keep saying "oh theyre a loud minority", "oh most of us arent like that", and bullshit like that which worked for awhile (I guess).

Now we've reached the point where I feel like these people are in denial that the feminist movement has totally gone awry and overstayed its welcome. The simple fact that "equity feminist" is even a thing should be a giant red flag for people.

The problem is that they ignore them because they don't want to be ostracized by their own movement by dissenting from the crazy majority so they simply get swept along and their silence is accepted as agreement by the rest of the feminist movement.

Feminism should have been a limited hangout movement anyways. Send feminism over to the middle east and parts of India and Asia where women are actually treated like complete, subservient, shit. There are women being tortured and killed for disobeying their father/brother/husband and have acid thrown in their face for ridiculous things like refusing to get married to someone or trying to get an education. Feminism served its purpose in America and is no longer needed and should be replaced by more relevant movements such as egalitarianism.

Edit: thanks for the denial downvotes!

There are crazies everywhere. Religious crazies, Sports crazies, Political crazies, Famous People crazies, and I have breaking news so does feminism. They are always are always a small, but well organized and vocal minority that hide behind some PC platitude and use it as a platform to spread hate.

I couldn't agree more. I constantly try to change people's view of feminists. All I want is to expand equality for genders. I don't want special treatment and I don't cry in a corner when people insult me. I love men and I want to be sure they have equal access to all the tools provided to female victims but dammit, the loud, crazy percent of feminists scream louder and every time they pull shit like this I reconsider why I bother. No one will have a dialogue with me about changing the movement. Certainly not on reddit, where I was banned for calling a mod rigid when she claimed all female pop artists were the bane of existence for using sex to sell. Rawr. Sometimes it feels so helpless

2

[–] Poppet 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

Most of my friends are ballsey loud women, and I can say that NONE of them have any respect for people like those in the video. Of course there are times when someone (male or female) who is actually hurt by others actions needs to be defended. But all this crap about "no one is allowed to offend me" is just ridiculous. Don't feel helpless. :) I think think we outnumber the whiners.

for your efforts, be they even in vein, you have my thanks. and you have my sincere appreciation for your beliefs and desires for true equality.

please take this statement at face value and not as an attack: do you realize that all of the anger, hate, rage, disapproval and unchanging views you are encountering are the result of the silenced cries, discounted suffering, oppressed sexuality, and culmination of feeling absolutely worthless in society. even worse is that you are constantly told that you are horrible, seeing actions like this article observes happening to others in your gender and no sympathy even considered, because "its a man".

men do not burst into tears and go to others for comfort, men do not vent to other men the way that women do. we have been taught to suffer the beating and try to strive forward as best we can. we do not elicit sympathy from others, we are expected to grin and bear our trials.

I'm sorry that your self identified label has been co-opted and ruined, for what that must do to your self-identity; but I do not have any sympathy for "feminism" for it has no sympathy for men.

What these crazies dont realize is that callout culture has an expiration date. As more of these things hit the courts and more news articles mention these things, and more people talk about it, these tactics become less and less effective. We can already see how this mindset is turning people against the movement.

I doubt that totally ignoring two feminists' attempt to ruin a guy's life by reporting him for harassment simply because he said, "Hey, I think that's a stupid idea" is going to be productive in any way.

The stuff that should be ignored is fake, misapplied statistics like "Women earn 71 cents to the dollar compared to men for the same work.", or "1 in 4 women on campus are raped." Both of these are based upon statistics that are true when quoted with the correct context, but get misused as soundbytes way too often.

Well, the irony is that it turns the true victims away because, as you suggest, in time they'll have to really prove and back everything, or they just will not be taken seriously in the first place. Which is funny because their whole agenda, allegedly anyways, is to lessen suffering and all that, while in crying essentially wolf they will increase it for those who have suffered greatly.

Why would you not link to the actual news article?

http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/christie-blatchford-ruling-in-twitter-harassment-trial-could-have-enormous-fallout-for-free-speech

Also, keep in mind, Canada has zero minimal protection regarding free speech. So this really is not a surprise. It's the same place that a comedian & a restaurant owner were fined some $22k (CDN) because of some 'offensive' jokes at an open mic night.

Edited to strike out error. Text that /u/gpzal is referring to is :

  1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.

The article is much better than the video.

Anyways, here's the quote from the article that sends chills down my spine.

The statute says if that conduct caused the alleged victims “reasonably, in all the circumstances, to fear for their safety”, that’s good enough.

Holy shit!
Prosecutor: "So victim, did he scare you?"
Victim: "OMG I was so reasonably scared."
