I previously posted about the terrible condition of Seattle streets. Today I went to the udistrict and drove around, then walked down the main Street and campus observing. I think the kids are just starting to trickle back in but I'm encouraged. Vast majority are clean cut white kids. No homeless. No craziness. One black lives matter banner on a coffee house that was empty. Maybe the fact that it's Sunday has something to do with it, but it was shockingly idyllic. The most profound indicator of a huge shift was my conversation with one of the campus bookstore employees. 3 years ago I went to the same bookstore and asked the same questions "what books would you recommend to help me understand the lefts perspective?" The woman I spoke to then was a feral leftist and feminist that rattled on about misogyny and social justice
Today, I spoke to a little gay man that took me to the current affairs shelf and loaded me up with books like "white fragility" and was raving about Woodward's new book which wasn't in stock. He struck me as a very empty head. I took that as a given considering he thinks he's a woman. But he told me to come back and speak to what very well could have been the same woman I spoke to 3 years ago. 60ish with long gray hair, no makeup. Exactly what I expected. But the conversation I had with her was very surprising. They are afraid of what's happening to their city and many others. They know who's to blame. When I told her my perspective she almost seemed apologetic. She HATED Hillary clinton and felt betrayed by the Democratic party. Sure she sent me out with a copy of Howard zinns "a people's history of the United States" and "the righteous mind" by Jonathan haidt (two fine Jewish gentlemen, I'm sure) but these are exactly the kinds of books I was looking for, and didn't expect to get.
So here I sit on the campus, on a bench, amongst the trees. Where I expected to see homosexuals buggering each other, homeless, trash, pajeets and asians. It's like it used to be ten years ago when I lived here with my ex girlfriend while she attended. I really feel at peace. I think we might actually be okay.

Gonna be okay? We have people running for office that literally want to ban border enforcement.
