If demonstrating makes one a Nazi then we know we have problems our hands. I bet they believe that being allowed to vote for right-winged parties is being like a Nazi. Good for this interior minister in standing up to speak for the people.

If you read his full statement, you'll he's just covering his ass and still fully believes citizens should be like sheep. He said he "sympathized" with the protesters but he said a lot more about how Germans should be fully prosecuted for "violent thought" in these marches and that right wing Germans are a far greater danger than muslims. He is a slimy globalist. Just like Merkel last year saying they would do something about reducing immigration (in public) while going full steam ahead in private.

Politicians like them have been stalling for a while now. They aren't going to change unless forced to.

They use the whole "violent thought" thing to ram in reforms and policies that undermine their own culture in many ways. They won't admit to it as being a bad thing because they are opposing something truly bad.

In the end this serves to legitimize things that are for worse than violent thought and it opens the doors for the George Soros types to work their damage, but they don't have to do much but just have the social and demographic situation change significantly, which will happen when they get in people's ideas that anything to the left of "violent" thoughts is a good thing. Its Communism/multi-culturalism at its finest.
