You get it on land too, it's everywhere, but the average person appears to be immune. Infection rates about 1 to 2 cases per 100,000 population annually.

They are getting better at saving people too - the first 24 hours are critical - if you get large doses of strong antibiotics early on your odds of survival intact are much improved. Do nothing in the first 48 hours you are probably finished. If you are old or already in poor health then even the antibiotics may make no difference.
