There had been an allegation that Inez had used physical force on her children, which is outlawed in Norway.

I'm not a fan of spanking kids, but it shouldn't be against the law, for God's sake.

Why should we make an exception for assault laws when the victim is very young and is related to their attacker? If a 24 year old man uppercuts his 16 year old sister for giving him lip, or lays her over his knee and spanks her, how is that any different from a 24 year old father doing the same to his 4 year old daughter? How do you determine where to draw that line?

Striking a child is harmful and it's just lazy parenting. All it does is teach the child that "rather than talking out the issue, all I have to do in order to get what I want from someone is inflict enough pain until they give in".

Assault is assault, regardless of whether it's your family member or if they're 2 years old.

I don't think the state should dictate how to raise children, and should intervene only when absolutely needed. Corporeal punishment may be necessary with some kids. I understand, it as far more common in the past, and those generations were OK.
