You have some people that watch a particular channel. Pretty passive. So, you cancel that channel to identify those that feel strongly enough to complain about that channel being dropped. At the same time, you are conditioning the users so they get accustomed to the creep of censorship.

The funny thing is, the FCC used to have censors who would monitor the shows for indecency and fine the stations. Now we have Corporations who are self regulating. The only authentic content available is through independent creators and YT is the largest outlet.

YT should hire me, because I can identify who would feel strongly about any particular channel being taken down right now. You see, channels have "subscribers"- you see where I'm going with this?

This hysteria is getting ridiculous. This is not about "freedom of speech", it's about a PRIVATELY OWNED BUSINESS (YT) shooting itself in the foot and making itself look terrible to anyone who is paying attention. And anyone who has been paying attention should've seen this coming YEARS AGO and planned accordingly. Maybe during the adpocalypse, a content creator might realize "Holy shit, I'm putting a tremendous amount of trust in this website run by people I've never met, and they probably despise me for my political views. Perhaps I should start moving my work elsewhere?"

But no- they stick around, they keep their eggs in that basket, and then when YT does something douchey (SHOCK!) it's time to cash in on that victimhood by soliciting donations and drumming up hysteria about "muh free speech".

I didn't realize that YouTube> Google were privately owned now. I was under the impression they were publicly traded Corp with fiduciary duty to shareholders.

The only hysteria seems to be emanating from you.
