We drove rent so high that restaurants can't make money without charging retarded prices.

Nobody is going out to eat because it's too expensive

I know! Let's make it illegal for non-restaurant businesses to feed their employees

SF logic.

Don't forget the $15 minimum wage. Which every city it's even been thought of has seen mass restaurant closures.

watch, people still won't flock to the shartskin disease factories (restaurants), then they'll want government mandated "lunch passes" given to the employees that can be used for "free" (taxes) at any restaurant so that the ebt crowd can game the system.

Or perhaps they will outlaw grocery stores and force consumers to go to approved kitchens.

[–] Gringojones 0 points 37 points (+37|-0) ago

Next they will ban bringing your own lunch to work.

They should also ban all company benefits like healthcare, subsidized commuting, desks, computers, networks, everything.

Yeah obviously those are things the government should be providing for free. Wait, what do you mean any employees with education and other job prospects are fleeing the city? Who will pay for all this free shit now?

Pretty hard to compete with a free meal, but trying to force people to patronize your shitty business model through legislation is retarded.

Most company cafeterias aren't free but as they have a captive customer base and aren't operated to maximize profits they can keep prices low.

Wonder who else enjoys centralized economic planning... Wonder if China can give some pointers?

China actually has magnificently efficient infrastructure in the major cities. I was in awe of the modern miracle of transportation their train system is. The trains come exactly on time all the time, they are fast, clean, cheap, safe, and highly efficient. In comparison, taking most USA train/bus systems makes one feel like they are riding in wheeled a bathtub full of shit on the highway at 5 mph while niggers chimp out around you, all for the low price of your kidney.

You can have good freight rail or good passenger rail but it's very hard to have both. America has good freight rail.

Box lunch. Fuck 'em all. There's no excuse to still be there. Poverty money in SF is upper middle-class 8ncome damn near anywhere else.

Under something like $115,000 is considered low income. (from memory) If you're wondering why, look up SF housing prices on zillow.

They upped the price of the meals in my company, so most people now bring in their own meals.

brown bagging is the logical alternative. SF thinking employees are going to suddenly patronize outside eateries makes no dang sense

[–] Gorillion 0 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago

Yep, and stash a microwave in some secluded corner, with the "DING!" deactivated by your buddy in engineering.

All likely the result of SF repealing some subsidy for businesses that feed their employees liberal-approved foodstuffs. Like Michael/Michelle's school dinners program.

It's never been about making sense. It's about conditioning us to obey, without question. New legislation is shat out onto our heads every day. How often is legislation removed?

Cheap meals are supposed to be part of the compensation package in that over priced shithole. If not free meals. I don't know if Google et al are going to be ok with this.

Exactly. The past 5 years have seen an enormous increase in both their unwillingness to recognize reality, and their willingness to legislate the perception of reality into all of our lives.

What will they do when folks start bringing lunch from home, because they simply don't want to spend money on lunch? Ban lunch boxes?

We don't stop for lunch, might grab a snack from the truck when I get a chance, but that's about it.

I travel for work, so I eat out a few times a week. Once I get into an area I usually find one spot and stick with it. It's usually the worst looking dive bar/diner around, and has the best food and staff in the area.
