Sad thing is, if that kid had retrieved his hat and whooped this guy's ass, the kid would be the one going to jail. He has to sit there and take it or risk arrest. The law should again allow the use of force to retrieve property. Currently there is no self help available to citizens to prevent theft without the additional threat of injury. This should change.

The kind of stupid crap that you're spewing here, is exactly why the world is the way it is today. Being arrested is NOT the same as being charged, being charged is NOT the same as being convicted. In a scenario like this one, if the kid had fought back he would have been arrested, maybe spent the night in jail until he can go in front a judge in the morning. Then as a productive and non-repeat offender, assuming the judge doesn't throw it out on the spot AND the prosecution thinks it's even worth pursuing, he would have been given a court date and would have been RoR'd. He shows up at the designated time in a suit and tie for his court date and shows this video, he would have walked that day. You're allowed to stand up for yourself; but if you're more comfortable making excuses for being a coward then you might as well roll over for the screeching left right now.

You can beat the wrap, but not the ride.

It's like people have mass-amnesia. However, it would still be on your permanent arrest record, for what thats worth.
