Fuck him, fuck Huffman, Fuck Ohanian, Fuck all of reddit's management. They are all SJW pond scum. It didnt have a single fucking thing to do with her private parts. Censorship, safe spaces, and commercialized content shaping sucks the same whether it comes from a dick or a pussy.
Im done with that place.
[–] uncultured 1 points 192 points 193 points (+193|-1) 2.7 years ago (edited 2.7 years ago)
Very eloquently put.
I agree with you. They're trying to spin this into some misogynistic hate brigade against Ellen which really isn't the case. Who is she a hero to? Sure, she has success in school but her implementation of ideas don't mesh really well with the community-driven site. She may be smart but her business sense is lacking.

She's probably a hero to the shareholders and the new CEO who she took the interim position for in order to make all these unpopular changes then step down when everything hit the fan. I mean, what was the last straw? Victoria being fired? How many other community liaisons have been fired in the last few months? I know the person in charge of redditgifts was let go, too, but no stink was made about it. It's almost like the whole backlash was constructed.
They wanted to get their changes in and make it feel like we won when we fought against them and demanded her resignation. She resigns, they bring in the new CEO who just happens to be someone who helped develop the site from square one, and everyone loves him and will be ever so understanding when he can't undo her policy changes. Or just forget about them when he introduces something new and flashy. It's no mistake all this happened on a Friday, either. It's only too bad they couldn't do it over July 4th.
[–] lucidique 0 points 25 points 25 points (+25|-0) 2.7 years ago
I agree, i think it's only been made clear she isn't the CEO Reddit needs. I don't think it's got anything to do with gender.

If we didn't want a women in a position of power, we wouldn't have cared that Victoria got fired... oh wait, we all cared... weird.
[–] oktober 0 points 10 points 10 points (+10|-0) 2.7 years ago (edited 2.7 years ago)
Its funny how that narrative never popped up. It was like, don't acknowledge a women who devoted herself to something Reddit users really benefited from, but instead create a false narrative about a women who did in fact suck at her job (or was a great actor in an awful play) and how bad it is to call her out on her shitty actions.
[–] Cantbebothered 1 points 37 points 38 points (+38|-1) 2.7 years ago
It may not even be that they are SJWs, but that they just use SJW rhetoric because that's how you can quickly and efficiently shift blame to another party these days. The msm eats that shit up.
[–] gatordontplaythatsht 0 points 14 points 14 points (+14|-0) 2.7 years ago
There's the sjw culture, and then there's the pc culture, which might be a symptom of the whole sjw nightmare. I think the reddit admins fall under the pc culture tab thus far. Just like the media with "bullying" they're lapping this pc, and safe space shit up. If they really think pao's hate came from her being a woman boy will they be upset when the same shit happens to new ceo when they don't reverse their new harassment safe spaces policy.
[–] NedTaggart 0 points 4 points 4 points (+4|-0) 2.7 years ago
That's close, but by spinning this narrative, they endear themselves to the the existing reddit users and mods that are part of the overall problem with regards to what reddit has become.
The reddit hive mind is guaranteed revenue and won't leave, because they identify with the hive; they can't function independently.
[–] gatordontplaythatsht 1 points 29 points 30 points (+30|-1) 2.7 years ago
200,000 people thought she was a scummy bitch but the media wont talk about that, or about her corrupt ass husband, just about her being a "hero" for women in industry. Fuck that noise, feminists you can have that scummy lying fake bitch.
[–] spookybm 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) 2.7 years ago
a hero or an hero? Her life is rekt because of poor decisions... how's 3 degree from Ivy League schools and too autistic to learn how to deal with people probably going to look for a school that pumped this easy weeb out? Ironic that she has a BSEE and doesn't know shit about technology.
[–] RJKH 0 points 188 points 188 points (+188|-0) 2.7 years ago (edited 2.7 years ago)
Use archive links to things like this, please! Prevents the site from getting page views and potential ad revenue.
I would really like to hear from the people Ellen Pao is a hero to. I wonder if she's a hero to those women whose firings she contributed to as she climbed up corporate ladders. Her entire platform has always been "the lone woman against the world" and its hard to do those things when there are, well, other women in your way. It's so funny how they gloss over Victoria's firing in relation to the "misogynist" narrative that's trying to be pushed.
[–] TheAntiFeminist 0 points 58 points 58 points (+58|-0) 2.7 years ago
She's a hero to feminists who think self-inflicted victimhood is a badge of honor.
Somehow we've gotten to the point where women are praised for being victims. She's just playing the cards society is dealing out.
Fucking 3rd wave feminism...
[–] Failboat 1 points 25 points 26 points (+26|-1) 2.7 years ago
Trying to defend feminism is realy starting to feel like defending islam after 911. We all know the movement is about equality and yet all we hear is how fucking crazy extreamists have taken it in the wrong direction.
[–] maxoverdrive 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) 2.7 years ago
There're some shills here on Voat who're claiming that Pao was targeted because she has a pussy, not because she's a shit person and fucking waste of good oxygen. Even some in this discussion. Their arguments primarily consist of baseless claims and third-wave feminism bullshit.
[–] AberdolfLincler 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) 2.7 years ago
Thank god there's a top comment that says this. I was starting to think less of Voat members, seeing so many links like this. "Look at how awful these people are, they think we're all pieces of shit!! Here's the link so you can give them more page views."
[–] HomerSimpson 0 points 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) 2.7 years ago
While I don't disagree we also don't know why Victoria was banned.
[–] WippitGuud 1 points 93 points 94 points (+94|-1) 2.7 years ago
Reddit board member doesn't understand the catalyst for the attacks was defending another woman.
[–] bleb 15 points 7 points 22 points (+22|-15) 2.7 years ago
The fact that the attacks were worse because the object of hate was a woman, and the fact that they were reacting to an unjust firing of a woman, are not mutually exclusive. They're completely compatible, and I think both are true. Do you think there's any room at all for pointing out and critiquing the sexist nature of a good portion of the Pao hate? If Voat wants to be as mature as it claims to be, we're going to have to resist the urge to say "I don't like you, therefore everything you said was wrong" and actually examine the Reddit community to see how we can be better than them. Sexism is an undeniable aspect of the Reddit community, and I pray the Redditors who came to Voat in the mass exodus can grow out of that.
[–] GenellanBound 0 points 55 points 55 points (+55|-0) 2.7 years ago
There's a difference between choosing to insult someone because of their sex and choosing to insult them with their sex. Most of the "hate" on reddit was the latter, by my lights.
[–] HighlandValley 0 points 40 points 40 points (+40|-0) 2.7 years ago
If a man behaves poorly he's called a dick. If a woman behaves poorly she's called a cunt. The fact that we tend to cringe more when we hear the latter doesn't mean that an insult is worse because it's a female gendered one.
My point is just that the attacks against Pao fell back onto gendered insults because that's just what people do, regardless of the subject. Women tend to be the subject of vitriolic comments far less frequently, so perhaps female gendered insults have more sting to them, but that seems to be the result of our desensitization to male gendered insults more than anything else.
[–] dahlia 0 points 19 points 19 points (+19|-0) 2.7 years ago (edited 2.7 years ago)
Sexism is an undeniable aspect of the Reddit community
That's only true in the same manner as sexism is an undeniable aspect of any human relations. There were mennazis, feminazis, softer feminists, softer mens rights activists, and the rest of the whole spectrum on Reddit. However, you write your comment as if sexism against women was an undeniable aspect. That's simply not true.
I'll grant you that Pao was, among other things, insulted using her gender (and having asian heritage, etc.), but that's hardly the same thing. That's a result of having hundreds of thousands of people really hating you for very real reasons and using all ways of expression available, partly out of frustration.
[–] Wasabi_Werewolf 0 points 7 points 7 points (+7|-0) 2.7 years ago
You sound like someone who thinks that when a woman is called bossy it's because she is strong willed and men are intimidated by her. Not that she is being bossy. Maybe the attacks on Ellen were so bad because she changed the entire site, fired an employee who was actually in touch with the reddit community in an unprofessional manner, pushed communities out, mocked and called her user base idiots, showed prior immoral behavior, refused any fault until it was to late and who knows what else i missed. I didn't see the majority of hate for Pao as sexist. In fact, I can't think of any significant article or top comment that was sexist. I actually saw many women and men point out that she hurts any actual struggle women need attention for. In fact, i'd say that the actions of Pao have been incredibly chauvinistic and self fulfilling.
[–] tortulho 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) 2.7 years ago
Oh, they understand it all, allright.
Yet, to the company's bottom line and to the company's managers it's far better to pin the blame on a scapegoat that can't answer back, instead of actually admitting the truth.
They simply can't admit to being grossly incompetent and having grossly mismanaged the company to the point where they personally eliminated the company's value, betrayed their mission statement and manifested crass disregard to their user base, epitomized by the infamous "popcorn tastes good" blurb.
That would be bad for business.
So they try to protect their business by lying their asses off with this bullshit propaganda campaign.
[–] BowelJiggler 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) 2.7 years ago
Yeah, they do. They know they can bring in a new influx of SJW types with this kind of misrepresentation on the truth to make up for loss of viewers.
[–] sillymanilly 0 points 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) 2.7 years ago
Bing! You got that right.
[–] SoloPoloVision 0 points 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) 2.7 years ago
The personal attacks started over FPH-gate, which was a good few weeks before Victoria was fired.
[–] Step_into_Liquid 0 points 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) 2.7 years ago
I was a pretty active guy on Reddit and I didn't even know about the FPH shit until after Victoria basically. It's not about that for me anyway... TPP discussion purging is more heinous.
[–] WippitGuud 0 points 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) 2.7 years ago
True. But nobody was really reporting on that. It's only when the petition exploded that the news started taking note.
[–] DoomedLaguna 0 points 61 points 61 points (+61|-0) 2.7 years ago
Ellen Pao, known for losing a gender discrimination lawsuit to the truth that she's just a shitty employee, claims that she was discriminated against by the reddit community during her tenure as interim CEO. Turns out she was just a shitty CEO.
[–] dahlia 0 points 16 points 16 points (+16|-0) 2.7 years ago
So ... how long do you think it'll be before she launches a lawsuit against Reddit, claiming they didn't do enough to protect her during the "waves of discrimination and hateful behaviour" she had to endure? I wouldn't be surprised if she did once she leaves her advisory role as well.
[–] [deleted] 0 points 7 points 7 points (+7|-0) 2.7 years ago
[–] JoshMcinJosh 0 points 5 points 5 points (+5|-0) 2.7 years ago
I very dearly hope that that happens. I would grin from ear to ear from the schadenfreude that I would experience.
[–] Forseti 0 points 4 points 4 points (+4|-0) 2.7 years ago
Hmm, she's supposed to be an "advisor" to the end of 2015. I really hope she decides to sue, who knows maybe reddit will learn the hard way on who to hire.
[–] onewatt 0 points 1 points 1 points (+1|-0) 2.7 years ago
That "advisory role" is no doubt part of a severance package which includes promises not to sue (probably mutual in this sort of case) with a fallback arbitration clause, and millions of dollars in go away money. If there's any long term suspicious plan in all this it was Pao planning to pull the rip cords on this golden parachute package when things got bad enough.
[–] Lt_Col_Pop 0 points 43 points 43 points (+43|-0) 2.7 years ago
I love how this article claims that she was hated simply because she was a woman, but fails to name that the most recent rebellion was started because a beloved member of the team, a woman, was fired abruptly. This article is the perfect example of bad journalism. The authors bias is glaringly obvious.
[–] ctkatz 0 points 13 points 13 points (+13|-0) 2.7 years ago
...or mention how she fired an employee with leukemia. but she's this great and powerful female ceo of a tech company.
[–] strbldsnch 0 points 7 points 7 points (+7|-0) 2.7 years ago
After telling him that he had a position with the company when he felt better and asking him to move across the country to accept it. After he had turned his life upside down to make the move and then at the very last minute be told that, no, we aren't going to let you come back. It's bad enough letting someone go for something like that, but even worse stringing them along and having them make all these plans before doing it.
[–] Probablydoesntcare 0 points 1 points 1 points (+1|-0) 2.7 years ago
Exactly. The Reddit community is so sexist that it banded together in a mass protest against the unjust firing of a celebrated female community manager. So sexist that it started petitions to bring that woman back, or even to put her in charge of the company. Yes, there probably were a few people who jumped on the hatewagon simply because Pao is female, but the vast majority were only attacking Pao as a means of showing support for Victoria and their dissatisfaction with the status quo.
[–] verbal 0 points 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) 2.7 years ago
To play devil's advocate for a moment, the article does recognise that her departure was prompted by the outcry at Victoria's firing. That doesn't change your conclusion, I just wanted to ensure accuracy.
[–] Halofreak1171 2 points 39 points 41 points (+41|-2) 2.7 years ago
That is such BS
[–] MCVoat [S] 4 points 16 points 20 points (+20|-4) 2.7 years ago
Agreed. Pretty sure the cunt wrote it herself.
[–] Dankthrone 0 points 11 points 11 points (+11|-0) 2.7 years ago
Thats the Irish Times for you. They used to be regarded as a highly respected journalistic outlet here, now not so much as you can see from this tripe.
[–] Iamnotbatman 0 points 25 points 25 points (+25|-0) 2.7 years ago
I'm so tired of hearing that shit. maybe, just maybe. the attacks on her was so bad because she's a shitty person in general.
[–] Lodley 0 points 1 points 1 points (+1|-0) 2.7 years ago
No this board member knows that if they hired a man who didn't understand the website and then articles that portrayed that man's husband as the head of a ponzi scheme mysterious vanished off the site. Then that man proceeded to promise one thing to the community and then deliver the opposite he would get less worse "attacks".
[–] yawningangel 1 points 23 points 24 points (+24|-1) 2.7 years ago
https://archive.is/NNwHD
God dammit.. Really wish people would archive this shit instead of sending traffic their way..
What we need to send them is a basic law textbook
Her gender discrimination case failed to sway a jury, but did reveal a community that casually tolerated an atmosphere where women often seemed to be relegated to secondary roles
So her trial simultaneously found that discrimination was common but didn't happen.
[–] yawningangel 0 points 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) 2.7 years ago
Huge difference between "seemed" and "were"..
Seems like somebody projecting their failures on what seemed to be sexism.
[–] MCVoat [S] 3 points 1 points 4 points (+4|-3) 2.7 years ago
Meh it's not a big deal, pretty sure most users have Adblock or won't click on ads at all and just page views won't help a website like he Irish times. Also archive.is is blocked at my work and comes up as proxy avoidance so it's probably blocked at a lot of places.
[–] gatordontplaythatsht 3 points 3 points 6 points (+6|-3) 2.7 years ago (edited 2.7 years ago)
It isn't a big deal at all. Ignore the gung ho new voaters who think they're here to topple reddit. They'll chill out eventually.
