This is the thing. I live in SoCal, these people don't actually want the American Dream. American culture is not only about the dream of making enough money to buy a house and raise a family. It's also seeing the dignity in work and treating everyone with respect. At my old job, a museum, we routinely had sand niggers, middle-class Mexicans and Indians (dots not feathers) talking down to or even yelling at people in roles like custodial and security. They often tried to demand special treatment, too. For example, one wanted to park in the CEO's space etc. This wasn't the mayor or some million-dollar donor, either. It was just someone paying normal price for normal admission. They had to pull me away from my actual work to deal with this idiot. These migrants are all about the income inequality that the Left claims to hate so much. They want the same social stratification and inequality they had in their old countries, they just want to come here and shift their place in the hierarchy. It's a far cry from the Protestant and, to some extent, Catholic social traditions that made this country great.
Before you say it's hypocritical for me to go there when the example I gave was about parking, and all the parking spots should be the same: no, and it's for a good reason. There have to be spots reserved for some execs because if something goes down, a fire or flood or theft etc, the CEO comes to the site and he needs a place to park. If someone had ever broken/vandalized an artwork, the lead curator would also have to drop everything and come. So we always kept a space reserved for her, too.

Hypocrisy never entered my mind.

On more leftist boards things like that can become an issue. "Reee! Don't you hear yourself, if everyone should be respected and treated well why does the CEO have a reserved space??" They can be incredibly dense and you can tell they've never worked in a position of responsibility where you get a call and you have to go in and handle some issue no matter what time it is.
