During the McCarthy Era there was a man who was blacklisted, not by the government but by a fellow who owned a chain of supermarkets. The blacklisted man was given considerable financial aid, not by communists, but by Americans who regarded it as an investment in liberty.

Eventually the man was not only won his defamation suit, the jury asked the judge to if they could give more money to the man than he had asked for.

And as it turns out McCarthy was right about the media being infiltrated. And now we're facing the repercussions of tolerating the intolerant. Once they achieve power they'll use that to strip away the rights to everyone else.

In the end we may have been better off if we just let McCarthy keep going and get rid of the Reds.

For bonus points: DYK that the CIA, the FBI, and many other three letter agencies of the US government recruit on university campuses? And people wonder why the Deep State is the way it is.

tolerating the intolerant.

My favourite Karl Popper quote. And we're doing it again by tolerating the Islamic hordes, the very definition of medieval intolerance.
