I refuse to believe that India is even remotely close to being a world superpower. I keep hearing people say this, sure it's a big fucking country but they lack some of the most basic standardized infrastructure.
They have nukes and some decently smart people but then half of their people shit in the same river they drink out of.

That more or less describes London in the early 1800s.

Okay, so by the time we're done colonizing Mars, India will finally have half decent roads and a sanitary system.

I respectfully disagree. I believe that, as people are saying here, they can become a superpower similar to USSR in a way that while being powerful and very highly developed in some sectors, they remain underdeveloped and deficient in other, for a while at least. There is no reason why a country with an ancient culture, hard working people and some bright minds couldn't be a superpower. Unless some old time traditions, like the cast system, disrespect for women etc. hold them down. Good education is the key. It works wonders. You get a lot of talent coming from even the poorest strata of society, if you give them a chance.

I don't disagree in that nature, I do think India can if they want to throw their weight around on a super power level and that their people certainly have that capability, however I just don't see them as being able to successfully compete against the current powers because they have too much internal strife. If they got into some sort of cold war like scenario they would crack. They're like a second tier power in my view. An important nation that is not to be taken lightly, but not somebody who can make demands against the U.S or Russian states.

The Ganges river has magical healing powers. The ghosts that live in the river convert human feces into magic. It's basic science.

Sounds like homeopathy.
