Why are all the social media companies doing so many terrible things?
I think we might be looking at a new way of making money, with outrage.. It's so big and it gets so many hits, all they have to do is ban things off their platform. Yes, I am aware people leave every time, this happens. The thing is, it's just slowing the rate of people leaving by creating a ever shrinking pool of things to outrage people. With out all the drama, the platforms would empty even faster for newer ones that have respectable rules. These companies will be eventually taken over by staff and taken along the outrage route until complete destruction, because it's a survival tactic in the fast paced internet race for the next big thing. The thing is, the next big thing is already out and they know it.
I am almost positive that it is going down this way in conjunction with other companies like WSJ, NYT, CNN, FOX.. All these companies are helping prop up each other, like a person who can't swim attempting to rescue a drowning person... This is the final stand, they will die and bring a few people with them. They should be sued for spreading false stories that lead to people dying or injured. At least they are dying off though, which is a good thing. We should all do a better job at ignoring the drama, if we look away it will disappear.
