The CEO idiotically opened up a major can of Legal worms for his company by banning stormer in that it set a precedent that they can investigate and remove people that some don’t like. This has major consequences for him now in pretty much every arena of legal challenge like intellectual property disputes online. Before it would have been simple to make the claim that Cloudflare was non biased and objective platform that he could use as a legal defense. Now he doesn’t have that.

In exchange for 5 minutes of fake praise from the pussy hat crowd he not only fucked over the internet, but also made his life a dozen times more complicated. Cloudflare is probably too big to fail anytime soon, but he’s earned a solid headache.

What a fucktard

You misunderstand. The system will reward him greatly for his obedience. This is just a small risk that will pay off great for him.

This is how this shit works.

Nope. You got that backwards. He's not a common carrier anymore. No one really cares about white supremacists. You're not enough of a threat to anyone.

His business has now become a political tool. The repercussions will be felt by other ISPs because if Cloudflare did what they did, other ISPs can do the same thing.

Great job!

Oh that's not a can of worms, that was probably the entire point. Half the internet runs on Cloudflare. And they're now able to be pressured into acting as a gatekeeper for content and ideas.

I bet the people behind Cloudflare are the same people that launched so many DOS attacks that pushed web sites into using their service. Now that are practically standard for all websites which gives them massive control. Everywhere you look on the internet is centralization now. People need to go back to unique client/server protocols for everything they do, and serving their own web sites they make themselves. Of course that may be difficult for a lot of people who use Comcast since Comcast last I saw blocked the web serving port. Ought to be illegal if there is no other choice for ISP.

The old broken window fable.

That doesn't necessarily apply here as the advantage they would hope to gain in this scenario is not so much an economic one as it is to become the gateway through which all internet traffic is routed thus giving them immense power to control information and thereby people themselves.

A few weeks ago it would have been illegal. Net Neutrality.

...no one believed us.

I don't understand why we don't do away with Name Servers for stuff like this? Sure it's nice to type in "voat.co" to get here, but we could have a site like this if we were just willing to just use it's physical address.

They were warned by some very well respected lawyers that this would happen if they banned a site on a whim, and they chose to ignore those warnings , now they have to face the consequences of their actions.

they have to face the consequences of their actions

It's the websites they host that will have to face consequences.

I doubt any judge worth their salt would let that stand. If it's a prog lefty activist judge maybe. But middle of the road or right minded and they're fucked.

Hard to tell how a judge is going to think. Can't have those idiot jurors being influenced by the wrong information.

For a CEO who was quick to shoot off his mouth and brag about banning DS you would think that he would be happy to oblige. Oh wait only when it's advantageous to him got it.

Sharp contrast, but I would imagine that a majority of convicted felons wanted certain evidence not used against them as well.
