I lived in CA and I believe you would be seen as lacking virtue if you turned away a voter on suspicion they were not a citizen. Reagan won CA ffs. Something changed, probably who is voting.

Reagan and Nixon won CA, you know what changed? Reagan. He passed that amnesty which turned CA blue. It allowed the courts to arbitrate citizenship and activist courts disregarded the prohibitive recommendations by congress. In other words not only did the number the congress expect gain citizenship but tons of people that didn't qualify by congress' standards.

In fact, it is so broken that through the 90s there were still cases coming up through CA to use Reagan's amnesty program, including where the person couldn't even prove they were in the country when it was passed, and they were still being granted citizenship.

This is exactly why the so called pathway to citizenship for DACA should to rejected full stop, because courts are more activist than ever and will result in a surge in citizenship that far exceeds the congressional estimates.

I don't believe it was anywhere close to 4 million. I don't understand why some feel compelled to stick to absurdly high numbers without any hard evidence when the number of illegal votes to threaten the integrity of an election is only a few thousand in the right counties.

It's because politics is a 'culture war' a war of different feelings and optics.

Even in ancient Athens it was the same.
