It's easy to throw money around when it's not yours. Happens all the time with the government -- not just Cali either.

Fuckin' F-35.

You have no idea. Maybe you do but most people dont realise these government fucks are eating $50 breakfasts on the daily. Its outrageous. My father did the same thing, throwing away thousands of your dollars. He still hasnt figured out why I stopped talking to him.

Why don't we reallocate the funds to build a new GITMO on the Mexico side of the wall and a monorail for authorized tourists on top the wall?

We've already used half the funding for bridges and roads. They're not bankrupt yet, ideas?

Turn this thing into a border hub of amazing proportions, people can come from all over the world to see it like China's Great Wall. Then they have no choice but to maintain it and it can bring revenue in to pay for itself.

https://archive.fo/ApLgV :

Cost for California bullet train system rises to $77.3 billion

'The business plan incorporates those cost increases, but it also has more money in contingency accounts for future setbacks and it includes more for future inflation, Kelly said. ', "One of the top priorities now, Kelly said, is to fulfill the state's obligations under $3.5 billion in grants that the Obama administration provided, which require that 119 miles of track be completed and all of the project's environmental clearances be obtained by 2022."

' The federal government could theoretically ask for its money back if those requirements are not met, officials close to the project say. '

That's the idea. Why give the border hoppers a means to escape?

FYI: The rest of us have cars. We don't want the people who can't work to buy a damn car riding the train to shoot up the backwoods, got that?

I heard something about this this morning where they said that the system is 4 years behind and 29 Billion Dollars over budget. They should have had Trump do the negotiating. Kinda feel for the Tax Payers but considering it's Calicaca I really don't. Hope those assholes go BK in the worst way. I also wonder if they will get another severe drought assholes....

The project is bleeding money the state does not have. Its a train from LA to San Fran for over a trillion.

It probably cost extra to protect endangered mosquito habitat or some BS.

Local towns and cities kept requesting stops in their areas or they wouldnt support the project. This increased the trip time to much worse than "high speed" and helped put everything way over budget. Last I heard there will be an annual upkeep fee provided by tax payers now, which was something that was promised NOT to happen when the project was originally voted on.

I went from a supporter to a "kill it now and invest the money in something better" about a year ago.

We should have seen it coming when the final bill for the new Bay Bridge span came in (way over budget of course - oh, and let's not get into the details of the thing not even being safe from the get go - and that was for a pretty trivial piece of civil engineering); the same people are managing the bullet train thing....

Isn't Trump's wall going to cost a fraction of that? It's almost as if they're complaints about the cost have never been about the cost...
