I think what Plavonica is saying is that it's pretty pathetic that you have to take things to court to get anything done. It's almost like it'd be better if people would take the information that a ton of people who worked at the burn pits are having lung issues, acknowledge that it was a stupid idea, and make things right.

Respirators that could have been worn during burns are sickeningly cheap, and finding out about it won't make the affected feel any better, but may help people in the future. As may safer disposal policies.

I hope your lungs are alright. It sounds like some of that defense spending increase would be well spent towards R&D in the area of--or the purchasing of--safer disposal systems then.

...and we haven't even mentioned depleted uranium or anything of the other issues.
