The Allied/American military who helped re-establish the German state must not have grasped the basis of the democratic system. That is likely the case today. Being in power does not make people wise.

But they did do a good job when Japan admitted to a total surrender.

As in, good job that Japan surrendered? I agree with that but I don't know if the Japanese protect Free Speech.

Oh! Here:

The Japanese constitution specifically states in Article 21 “Freedom of assembly and association as well as speech, press and all other forms of expression…” along with “No censorship shall not be maintained, nor shall the secrecy of any means of communication be violated”, thus affording the Japanese people constitutional protection equal like the citizens of the United States.

That is very very good. Why did Germans not receive the same protections?
