Police said King tried to beat the train by pedaling around the safety gates. A witness reportedly called police to say “there was a train coming through and this person was riding his bicycle and did not stop (inaudible) and (inaudible) through the gates and he barely got hit by the train.”
So that's victim #2. But the other one was some sort of disaster, right?
Melissa Lavell, 32, was struck and killed during preview rides on Jan. 12, a day before Brightline offered its service to paying customers. Lavell tried to beat the train across the track, according to a police report. Brightline’s engineers told police that the guard gates were down at the time.
Yup, a disaster of genetics. You can't cure stupid, but you can cull it. Praise be to Darwin!
The King family has a lawyer. They're going to make money off the stupidity of a 51 year old man who tried to beat a train. I guess this type of lawsuit is today's way of having life insurance.

No sympathy for either of them. Just wait for the fucking train to pass

They both tried to beat the gate. This is not the trains fault.

I’ll never understand how people get hit by trains. You know EXACTLY where it’s going. It’s not like it’s gonna swerve and hit you.
