It's amazing that these kinds of people are allowed to be involved with computers for their job.

I'm always amazed when government officials attempt to undermine the opinions of experts in a particular field. As if the years of education and relevant work done by these experts is no match for the government official's unfounded opinion on the subject. We all know that one side of the debate is backed by empirical evidence and relevant studies and the other by corporate/financial lobbying money and self-interest. Unfortunately, the former doesn't always take precedence when it comes to dictating policy.

There is a difference between administration and science. Scientists need administrators so they can do science. The problem of course being when administrators believe they can/should dictate science conduct.

Comey really wants to further his career and enrich some buddies exploring one of those alternatives.

It is a bizarre mindset...really, quite paranoid behavior. Disturbingly, I think Comey genuinely believes his paranoid dictates benefit safety.

Quit your whining. The FBI will just put the tip of the encryption in and, if we don't like it, they'll stop. \s
